Papertake Weekly sketch - guest DT member

It´s my second week as a guest designer for Papertake Weekly and we have a great sketch for you to follow:

Also, mitmachen lohnt sich!

I used a Sarah Kay image and masked the bottom part of the stamp so my stamped image looks like a portrait.
This week we have a new sponsor: Simon Says Stamp. They were so kind to give a giftcard to the lucky winner - and additional free shipping. So, head on over and join us!

The Next Level - issue 5

The Next Level picked a wonderful sketch for their challenge of the week:

I wanted to make a monochromatic card again - and of course I sticked with brown colors. Sarah Kay stamps are the perfect images for that kind of card because of the vintage look of the image itself.
Since I loved that flourish I´ve added to my card from yesterday so much I decided to use another one today, also cut using my Cricut. I sprayed some Glimmer Mist on it and added some Stickles Glitter Glue as well. I really plan to use my Bug more often! I used a light background for my picture this time to make you able to see the flourish quite well.
That huge flower is selfmade. I am not that creative person behind that idea - unfortunately. The instructions were posted in a video from Fiskars on their homepage. A great tutorial how to make these, with pics and easy to understand, can be found on Helen´s homepage: Scrap a Little. You can find the link under "flower tutorials" in the sidebar - there are not only instructions for this flower posted but also for other great ones.
For people that feel "extra creative" The Next Level is asking to use some stitching on the card. It´s a pleasure for me to do so...LOL My poor sewing machine isn´t getting any break at the moment.

Stamp with Fun # 13 und Just Christmas and Birthday Cards # 38

Just Christmas and Birthday Cards hat einen tollen Sketch für die Challenge # 38 kreiert:

Just Christmas and Birthday Cards created a great sketch for their challenge # 38:

And at Stamp With Fun they have a color challenge this week: brown and turquoise. A great combo!
I used a sitting Tilda to interrupt the round look a bit. The flourish is cut using my Cricut and I´ve added a few turquoise flowers. The charm was once golden but I´ve covered it with some brown chalk so it won´t be that bright.

Cupcake Craft Challenge # 46 - Summer

This week it was my turn to set the challenge over at Cupcake Craft Challenges. Well, summer has finally arrived. But here in Germany it is still way too rainy and cold and so I am asking all the crafters out there to send summer to us by making some sunny, happy summer cards. Whatever summer means to you.
I decided to go with this cute Hanglar image. Is there anything else representing summer as good as strawberries? And since I hope there will be many this year I added a recipe for strawberry jam to my card. The ribbon was formally a hat of one of my girls. It fell apart and so we discovered that it was made from one really large ribbon, sewed together in a round shape. Sure that this ribbon went into my stash!LOL A few white strawberry blooms and some stamped strawberry images (by Whiff of Joy) and finally a strawberry charm made the summer look perfect to me.

Finally we have to announce some sad news: Lauren, the fonder of Cupcake Craft Challenges, decided to close down the challenge blog. She doesn´t have the time anymore to run it. And so next week challenge # 47 will also be the last one. Thank´s for all that partecipated!

The Cuttlebug Spot challenge # 37

Celebrate your Country!

Celebrate your Country! 4th of July is America´s Independence Day and so we at the Cuttlebugspot set a challenge matching that theme. But of course everyone is invited to take part. Just show us a card that celebrate´s your country.
Well, there aren´t any german holidays close and all the rest I could come up with was about something everyone thinks that´s typical german but it really isn´t - like beer and Sauerkraut LOL. So I decided to make a virtual gift to all the americans out there.
The instructions how to make the starbox can be found at Splitcoaststampers and it was so much fun to make it. I used the "RIP" die cut and emboss combo die to make my tag and run the handcut stars through my Cuttlebug using the "Tiny Bubbles" embossing folder. Then I fixed them to some wire and decorated the box with them.

Card Patterns Sketch # 21

Hier also der Sketch:

I discovered a "new" challenge blog: Card Patterns. And I loved their sketch # 21 that much that I had to use it for my card of today. I hope non-cute cards are allowed there. I didn´t find any informations about which stamps are allowed. So, here´s the sketch:

My image is by Hanglar, papers are - like nearly every time - by DCWV, sentiment is handwritten.

Sketch Saturday # 57

Sketch Saturday hat seinen neuen Sketch gepostet:

Sketch Saturday posted its new sketch:

I turned it around and used this cute princess with her frog prince - also a stamp from the new Dudadaze collection by Sugar Nellie. The perls on her necklace and shirt were covered with a perl pen to make it look even more real. Papers are DCWV, sentiment is by StudioG and the rick rack is something I bought last week in a fabric store. After placing a few flowers and a charm around my image I was pretty pleased with my card. I hope, the princess is as well!

It´s friday, the weekend is near - and it´s that time again for a new sketch over at Friday Sketchers:

Today my Dudadaze stamps by Sugar Nellie were in the mail - and they are too cute to not use them immediately! I decided to go with "Bunny" today, but the others will follow during the next days.
Since my first card of today was quite colorful but I still had the colors on my table I decided to use a pink and green color combo for this card.
At Charisma Cardz challenge # 25 everything is allowed. Simply make a card in any theme or style you want. That´s simple...LOL

Colour Create # 21 und Just Magnolia # 11

"Pistachio green, aqua and powder pink", that´s the new color combo over at Colour Create.
And I followed Just Magnolia´s new sketch:

I first struggled a bit with this color combo but after I re-discovered this cute Tilda in my stash I knew what to do.
All papers are DCWV and next to the flowers I´ve added two buttons that I fixed with some white wire. I curled that to make it look nicer. The sentiment is by Stampin´Up.

Cute Card Thursday # 66 und Stamp With Stampavie # 49

"Wheely much fun" - the people over at Cute Card Thursday really picked a funny theme this week. And of course something that has wheels should show up on your card. In a house full of girls cars and such are hard to find. But then I remembered the Tilda and Edwin Tours autobus stamp and used it to create a "and we are off" card. The sentiments are by StudioG, the leaves are another Magnolia stamp. I cut them out and just used as many as I needed. The background paper by DCWV is all over printed with words about camping.

I followed the new sketch from Stamp With Stampvie to create my card:

The Next Level - issue 4

The Next Level has 2 different kind of cards to choose from: a stair step fold card or a free standing 3D pop up card. And the best: they also created wonderful how-to instructions about how to make these.
I´ve never done a stair step folding card and so gave this a try today. Can you believe that I used 7 different Magnolia stamps on it? The hey bale, Tilda with her cat, the wool, tilda with holster, Edwin as animal keeper, the background and finally the horse. Coloring them all took some time!LOL But I am quite pleased with how this turned out and it will go to my girls so they can put it up in their room...

Whiff of Joy challenge # 36

Whiff of Joy created a wonderful sketch for their challenge # 36:

Yesterday I read a magazine and they were writing about stamping on fabric. So I went and got me some light colored fabric - and of course needed to try this technique today. I was a bit afraid that my image probably won´t be as crisp as I wanted it to be but it came out perfectly. The color of the ink only looks lighter - but that matches perfectly that cute Whiff of Joy stamp. I carefully colored it a bit and for fixing on my card the only choice was my sewing machine.LOL
I used black StazOn ink, the fabric is thin linnen and for coloring I used normal pencils (without any water or Gamsol or something similar).

Papertake Weekly "Delightful Downloads" guest designer

Papertake Weekly was looking for guest designers - and I can´t tell you how proud I am to be choosen as one of them! And this for the next 4 weeks! Woohoo
My first GDT challenge is called "delightful downloads" - and that means we want you to use something downloaded on your card. This can be a digi stamp, a patterned paper or something else. The DT members got a stamp from DigiStamp Boutique - and they are sponsoring this week´s challenge as well. It was hard for me to pick a stamp because they have a bunch of cute ones in their shop. But then I remembered that some time ago I didn´t have one single fairy stamp and so I picked one of those. And my girly birthday card is what I´ve done with it.

A spoon full of sugar challenge # 57 "Weddings"

"Hochzeitskarten" sind diesmal auf A Spoon Full Of Sugar gefragt.

"Wedding cards" is what A Spoon Full Of Sugar is asking for this week. The best chance to try one of my new Whiff Of Joy stamps. Actually I used two... I did some masking to let the bride sit on the swing. The flowers on the image were covered with some baby pink FlowerSoft. I mostly used creme and pink colors and added some tulle and lace, together with a few embellishments. But I didn´t want to add too much to not destroy the elegant touch of the card.
Who knows the real size of this image can image how huge my card is!LOL
I followed an older sketch from MojoMonday to make my card:

The Cuttlebugs Spot challenge # 36 - Celebrate Summer

Also at the Cuttlebugspot it´s all about summer this week. "Celebrate summer" or even "school´s out for summer" is the new theme. Since here the vacations haven´t arrived yet I wanted to make a real summer card. Can there be anything more "summer" than a big cone of yummy icecream?
I cut it using my Cricut and Doodlecharms cartridge, cut one of the layers with my hands to create the chocolat covering and used my Tiny Mosaic folder to emboss the cone. Then I added some chalks to make it look more real. The sentiment is computer generated.

Whimsical Scraps and Bugs challenge # 19, Design Team

At Whimsical Scraps and Bugs we have an ABC Challenge for challenge # 19 - and it´s all about the letter S - like summer. This letter has to be a focal point on the layout, but the theme don´t has to be summer. Any S-word will count. I decided to stick with summer because there is a bunch of unscrapped pictures we took at our summer holidays last year.

Just Christmas and Birthday Cards Challenge # 37 und Magnolia Down Under Challenge # 16

Just Christmas and Birthday Cards hat auch für ihre Challenge # 37 einen tollen Sketch parat:

Just Christmas and Birthday Cards has for their challenge # 37 once again a beautiful sketch at hand:

Außerdem habe ich einen neuen Magnolia Challenge Blog entdeckt: "Magnlia Down Under Challenge".

And then I discovered a new Magnolia challenge blog called "Magnolia Down Under Challenge". They have a color combo posted for their challenge # 16. Choose one of these combinations:
- pink, brown and creme/white
- orange, brown and creme/white or
- blue, brown and creme/white.
Well, for me it was clear to follow the first one.LOL
I used this cute Magnolia image with Tilda and her hear shaped gingerbread. I added some lace and flourishes and there wasn´t much more needed to make my card look like this. I like, how it turned out!

Stamp with Fun # 12

Right in time for the new week Stamp with Fun postet its new sketch:

I used a straight paper instead of a round one at the bottom of my card. There were too many circles for me on this sketch. I hope, it was okay to do it.
My image is a cute Tilda in her summer dress, all around her I placed a few branches and flowers and only used pink and creme on my card.

Just Magnolia challenge # 10 und Sketch Saturday # 56

Summer - even if the weather isn´t that sunny at least we can craft about it. Guess that´s what Just Magnolia thought also and so they picked this as their theme for challenge # 10.
I followed the new sketch at Sketch Saturday for my card:

Seems like even Tilda is looking for summer - that´s why I´ve chosen this image. I also had to try my new punch - and love it! I used some paper from my stash, a bit of lace and a hydrangea flower by Prima.

Just Magnolia first weekly challenge und Roses on Paper Challenge #14

Just Magnolia is not only setting their weekly "normal" challenges but from now on there will also be a special challenge every other week. And also the prizes are special.
For their first special challenge they want us to alter a container. No matter if you use a box, a tin, a paper bag, a plastic tub... Whatever you can come up with. And you don´t need to buy something - you can also use an empty box somewhere from your household.
Roses on Paper has an easy but also special theme this week: any other challenge. ??? Yes, pick a challenge from any other blog, make a card following their theme and enter this card for both challenges. There are only two rules: you have to use paper flowers on your card and use a stamp from one of these companies: Magnolia, Alota, Rachelle Ann Miller, Sarah Kay oder Greeting Farm.
I altered one of these tins with a magnetic backing from Ikea. I store my embellishments and other small stuff in their but this single tin didn´t fit my magnetic board anymore. Now I decorated it, will fill it with some goodies and send it to a special friend. No names will be told! The image is by Magnolia. I used some tulle on her skirt to make it look even more real.
On Roses on Paper they also have a Guest DT call running. You can become a guest DT member for the new stamping company "Belles n Whistles" that will - together with other stamps - sell exclusiv stamps created by the famous designer Elisabeth Bell.

It´s friday again - and so there is a new sketch over at Friday Sketchers:

And Colour Create is giving us a fruit salad from the colors strawberry, raspberry, kiwi, tangerine and blackberry - and is asking to use 3 of these colors on the card. I decided to go with kiwi, blackberry and a lil bit of raspberry (cherry on top of the muffin and the heart on her apron).
The optional extra is to include fruits somewhere on your card. No matter if it´s in the image, the paper, the sentiment, the embellishments... There is a cherry on top of the muffin and to match this I also added a cherry charm.
The image is by Hanglar - a lovely stamper sent me a few stamped images.

Charisma Cardz # 24 und Cute Card Thursday # 65

"Tag, You´re it!"
Und Charisma Cardz stellt bei ihrer Challenge # 24 ganz richtig fest: "Diamonds are a girl´s best friend".

"Tag, You´re it!" - that´s the codeword for challenge # 65 at Cute Card Thursday. And of course it means to either use a tag somewhere on your project or even make a tag shaped card. I think it´s easy to find the tag on my card.
And Charisma Cardz picked a saying that is so true for their challenge # 24: "diamonds are a girl´s best friend". So, put some of these sparkeling friends on your cards.
Today the new Whiff of Joy stamps from Women´s Delight Collection were in my mailbox and of course one of them needed to be inked right after I discovered them in the mail. It was a hard decision which one to use! I went with a soft blue color scheme and since I only have girls I also wanted to make a baby boy card - hoping someone near me will get a boy someday.

The Sugar Bowl challenge # 13

The new challenge over at The Sugar Bowl is just made for me! They have a wonderful sketch posted:

The "please include" for this challenge is to use the color "kraft". If you - like me - don´t have this color feel free to use brown and beige. Exactly my colors! And so this card nearly came together by itself.
I used this beautiful "Pick Me" stamp - and in my opinion it is perfect for using with tone-in-tone color combos. I added a bit velvet flocked paper, a velvet border and a thin lace together with of course a few flowers, branches and sewings.

Next Level Issue # 3 und Whiff of Joy Challenge # 35

Finally I made a card for the new challenge blog "Next Level". They have a great sketch posted:

And Whiff of Joy has choosen "paper piecing" for their challenge # 35. To be honest, it´s the 3rd or 4th time I use this great technique, but I love it more and more each time.
I decided to go with "Melinda reading a book" because this images is great for paper piecing. It´s not too detailed and so cuting out the different parts is easier. I used the same papers that I also used on my card. A lil´ bit of sewing and a few embellishments added and the card was done. I didn´t put a sentiment on it but added a charm instead.

Papertake Weekly Sketch # 17 und Stamp with Stampavie # 18 - Numbers

Just at the first look sketch # 17 at Papertake Weekly reminded me of an envelope:

I turned the sketch so the opening is on the side.
I also used Stamp With Stampavie´s theme for challenge # 18 which is "numbers". My girls are invited to a birthday party this week and the gift will be a gift certificate (no, it´s not the paper inside my card, that´s a card my girls will need at the dentist this afternoon!LOL).
The cute Gorjuss Girl is my number 1 choice for a girl´s card and also with the colors I used the typical girls favourites. So, the fact that the paper by My Minds Eye is glittered also just makes the whole card perfect.

A Spoon Full Of Sugar challenge # 56

MichelleO hat diesen Sketch für die Challenge # 56 auf A Spoon Full Of Sugar gestaltet:

MichelleO created this sketch für challenge # 56 over at A Spoon Full Of Sugar:

I used "Tilda with bird cage" and, also if I never thought this could happen and totally without any pressure by anyone, I decided to go with orange today and combined a light blue with it. All papers are DCWV, the little butterfly is a Stampin´Up stamp, the sentiment is printed with my computer and I am really proud what a good job I did with matching the printing colors. Of course some flourishes were needed too!LOL

It´s that time again for a new Cuttlebugspot Challenge - and also there we have "father´s day" as our theme. Since father´s day was in may here I created a little something for our neighbour.
The instructions how to make this teabag holder can be found at Splitcoaststampers - and it was again Anita who reminded me of it. She posted one of these on her blog and while browsing it to find the instructions for her purse I saw this one also. It´s not the first one I am making but you know how it goes - there´s so much inspiration out there that you sometimes forget about special designs.
