Hallo Ihr Lieben!
Ich finde Polarlichter total faszinierend - werde aber wohl nie welche live erleben, denn dort ist es mir viel zu kalt. Als ich dann den tollen neuen Hintergrundstempel von Scrapbook Forever in den Händen hielt und sofort an Polarlichter denken musste, kam mir die Idee, sie mir eben auf einer Karte ins Haus zu holen. Und so ist diese Karte entstanden.

I love northern lights but most likely will never see them in reality because up there it's way too cold for my taste. So when I've recieved the great new background stamp by Scrapbook Forever and had to think of the northern lights immediately I've decided to bring them into my house on a card. And that's how the idea for this card was born.
Da der Stempel etwas kürzer als eine reguläre Karte ist, brauchte ich noch ein passendes Hintergrundpapier. Ich habe mich für hell-lila farbenes Glitzerpapier entschieden. Das funkelt dann noch zusätzlich wie Sterne.
Der Text aus dem Stempelset "Hippos Man muss aufwärts blicken" passte hier einfach perfekt. Und da die Polarlichter ja auch von jemandem bewundert werden wollen, kam noch einer der süßen Pandas zum Einsatz. Der ist mit Polychromos coloriert und mit 3D Tape auf die Karte geklebt.
Since the stamp is a bit shorter than a regular card I was in need of a matching background paper. I've decided to go with a light purple glitter cardstock that twinkles like stars.
The saying means "you have to look into the sky to be able to see the stars" and was just perfect for my card. And since the northern lights wanted to be adored by someone I've also added one of the cute Panda bears. It's been colored in with Polychromos and glued onto the card using dimensionals.
Und hier seht Ihr meine Polarlichter. Um diesen Look zu erreichen, habe ich erst mit verschiedenen Distress Inks ein Stück weißen Cardstock in der Größe des Stempels eingefärbt. Eigentlich war da mehr lila, aber irgendwie war das wohl ungünstig verteilt und wurde später abgedeckt. Ich finde meine Polarlichter trotzdem schön.
Nach dem Trocknen der Distress Ink habe ich den Hintergrundstempel mit klarem Embossingpulver aufembosst (und dabei offenbar beim Hochheben rechts ein Stück des Pulvers abgewischt, was mir aber erst am Ende aufgefallen ist - stört aber nicht, finde ich) und anschließend Distress Ink Black Soot aufgetragen. Vom klarem Embossingpulver kann man die schwarze Farben wieder abwischen und sieht dort dann den farbigen Hintergrund durch.
And here are my northern lights. To get this look I've used different colors of Distress Ink to ink up a piece of white cardstock the size of the background stamp. There was more purple in the background but it seems like it wasn't in the right areas and so most of it was covered with black later. I still like "my" northern lights.
After the background had dried I've heat embossed the background stamp onto the colored cardstock using clear embossing powder. Seems like I've removed some of the powder from the right side when picking up the carstock to heat it up but didn't notice it in time. Then I've covered the whole background with Distress Ink Black Soot. It can be wiped off from the clear embossed areas and there the colored background shines through.
