Hallo Ihr Lieben!
Vor kurzem feierte meine Mom ihren Geburtstag - die Karte, die ich für sie gemacht hatte, habe ich ja schon gezeigt. Nun war es leider so, dass das Geschenk für sie nicht rechtzeitig ankam. Da wir aber sowieso alle während eines Familienurlaubs mit ihr und der Familie meines Bruders in Italien nochmal mit ihr feiern, habe ich es eben dorthin mitgenommen.

My mom celebrated her birthday a little ago - I've already shared the card I made her. Unfortunately her gift didn't arrive in time. But since we all meet up in Italy with her and my brother's family I just gave it to her there.
Als ich sie vor ihrem Geburtstag nach Wünschen fragte, sagte sie, sie hätte gerne einen Flügel, denn ein Klavier habe sie schon. Das war natürlich Spaß. Als sie mir dann etwas später erzählte, dass die Uhr, die ich ihr vor Jahren geschenkt hatte und die ihre Lieblingsuhr war, leider kaputt gegangen war, machte ich mich auf die Suche und konnte tatsächlich noch ein "nagelneues" - also ungetragenes - Exemplar ergattern. Ein Wunder, da sie bereits 2001 auf den Markt kam. Als ich dann über eine Verpackung nachdachte, fiel mir der Wunsch nach einem Flügel wieder ein. Und voilà - hier ist er.
When I asked her what she's asking for her birthday she answered she wanted a grand piano since she already had a regular one. Of course it was just a joke. A little later she told me that the watch I gave her years ago and that was her all time favorite broke - so I browsed the web and luckily was able to find a "brand new" - as unworn - one. A miracle since it was on the market in 2001. When I thought about how to wrap it her wish for a grand piano came back to my mind. And voilà - her it is.
Als ganz grobe Basis, also die Grundform des Flügels, habe ich eine Stanze aus einem der Magnolia DooHickey Kits verwendet. Die Stanze schneidet nur die Form un die Tasten - alle 3D Aufbauten habe ich mir dann selbst zusammengebastelt und für den Deckel des Fügels die Grundform einfach geteilt. Leider ist die Klaviatur auf dem Flügel so überhaupt nicht realistisch - sie besteht nur aus C, CIS, D, DIS und E - da fehlen so einige Tasten. Aber nun gut, ist eben so.
Natürlich durfte auch ein Notenhalter nicht fehlen. Ich weiß, der ist eigentlich oben auf dem Flügel, aber das ging hier technisch nicht. Dafür stehen die Noten von Happy Birthday zum Spiel bereit. Ich habe es getestet, die Version klingt gut. Ist nur in der Größe etwas schwer lesbar.
For the basic shape of the grand I've used a die from one of Magnolia's DooHickey kits. The die only cuts the keys and the curved shape - all the other parts are something I came up with. For the lid I've simply cut the base shape into two parts. Sadly the keys on this piano/the die are totally wrong, there're only C, CIS, D, DIS and E - so there are missing a few notes. But well, that's how it is.
Of course I also needed to add a sheet holder. I know, usually those are on top of the lid, but that didn't work here. But there's a note sheet for Happy Birthday already place, ready to be played. I've tried it, this version even sounds good. It's just a bit hard to read the notes since they are really tiny.
Da mir der Flügel etwas zu fad war, habe ich noch einen Kerzenständer und ein paar Blumen auf den Deckel aufgeklebt. Zuerst hatte ich Angst, dass das ein wenig nach Beerdigung aussehen könnte. Aber nein, es war eine gute Idee.
Since just a black grand seemed a bit sad I've decided to add a candle holder and a few flowers to the lid. I was afraid that would look like made for a funeral but no, I think it was a good idea.
Und hier ist die Uhr - Bon Boules von Swatch. Ich selbst habe die auch, aber die sieht längst nicht mehr so schön aus.
Ich musste die Uhr aus der Verpackung nehmen, da die nicht mit in den Flügel gepasst hätte. Die bekam sie dann so überreicht. Stattdessen habe ich die Box mit Papierstreifen gefüllt und die Uhr dort hineingelegt.
Um den Deckel geschlossen zu halten, habe ich am Deckel und seitlich innen an der Box ein Stück schwarzes Band angebracht, mit dem ich sie verschließen kann. So kam alles heil in Italien an. Nun können wir ehrlich behaupten, einen Flügel mit in den Urlaub genommen zu haben. ;)
And this is the watch - the Bon Boules by Swatch. I have it myself but mine really doesn't look that good anymore.
I had to take it out of its original packaging since it wouldn't fit into the grand. I gave it to her after she opened the piano gift box. So instead I've filled the box with those frizzy paper strips and put the watch on top of them.
To keep the lid closed I've glued a piece of ribbon to both the lid and the inside of the box to keep it closed with a bow. That way everything arrived sound and safe in Italyy. Now we can honestly say that we took a grand piano with us into vacation. ;)
