Hallo Ihr Lieben!
Es ist soweit - die Abiturnoten wurden bekanntgegeben und beide unserer Mädels halten ihren Abschluss in den Händen. Somit ist ein weiterer Meilenstein erreicht. Die letzten Wochen/Monate waren stressig, Erholung wäre nötig. Und weil die Leistung sowieso belohnt werden sollte - egal, wie die Note ausfällt, wie ich finde! - gibt es einen Trip mit den besten Freundinnen. Und der will natürlich ordentlich verpackt werden! Und so sind diese Explosionboxen entstanden.
Hello eveyone!
It has happened - the final grades have been announced and both our girls are graduating. Another milestone in their lives. The last weeks/months were stressful, some relaxing is really necessary. And since their effort should be rewarded - by the way, in my opinion the grade shouldn't matter since everyone gives his/her best! - and so they get a trip with their best friends. And of course I needed to make another explosion box to let them know.
Hier könnt Ihr eine der Boxen besser sehen - sie sind beide identisch gewerkelt.
Die Box selbst ist aus weißem Cardstock gemacht, die einzelnen Seiten schwarz gemattet und die Seitenteile sind mit tropischem Designpapier mit Flamingos.
Here you get a better look at one of the boxes - they are both made identically.
The box itself has been made from white cardstock, the single sides are matted with black cardstock and - except for the lid - covered with some tropical designer's paper with a flamingo pattern.
Oben auf dem Deckel habe ich stehend eine Wellenreihe aus türkisfarbenem Cardstock aufgeklebt. Dahinter kam, jeweils mit 3D Tape aufgeklebt, erst das ausgestanzte Wort ABI sowie zwei Palmen. In den Wellen steht ein Flamingo, passend zum Designpapier.
Und weil ich Wortspiele doch so liebe, habe ich aus dem Wort Abitur und Urlaub einfach einen Abiturlaub gemacht.
Oh, und zwei Muscheln, gesammelt in einem unserer letzten Urlaube, haben auch noch Platz auf dem Deckel gefunden.
Onto the lid I've glued a die cut wave border, cut from turquoise cardstock and put through a slid in the black cardstock so it stands up. Behind the waves I've added a die cut word ABI and two palm trees. They are all glued behind each other using dimensionals.
In the waves a flamingo is standing - matching the designer's paper.
And since I enjoy to play with words so much I've included another one here. Abi is the short word for Abitur, the diploma they graduate with. Urlaub is the german word for vacation. So I've combined those two to AbitURlaub.
Oh, and I've also added two shells, collected during one of our latest vacations.
Um den Rand des Deckels habe ich rosafarbenes Organzaband gewickelt und vorne zur Schleife gebunden. Dort habe ich dann jeweils noch einen Kofferanhänger mit dem Anfangsbuchstaben unserer Mädels angebracht.
Around the lid I've wrapped some pink organza ribbon and tied it to a bow at the front. There I've also added a die cut luggage tag with the first letter of our girls to each box.
So sieht die geöffnete Box aus.
Auf das rechte Seitenteil kam natürlich noch ein Stück Cardstock mit persönlichem Text, aber man muss nicht alles teilen... ;)

Onto the right panel I've later added a piece of cardstock with some personal text, but you don't have to share everything, right. ;)
In der Mitte habe ich es tropisch weitergehen lassen.
Im Hintergrund befindet sich etwas Strand, eine Palme, das Meer, die Sonne am blauen Himmel und zwei Möwen fliegen über dem Wasser.
Den Boden der Box habe ich sandmäßig mit braunem Cardstock beklebt, darauf kam ein Koffer, ein Strandtuch und der obligatorische Partyeimer... ;) Die Strohhalme bestehen aus eingefärbten Zahnstocherstücken, die mit Heißkleber in den Eimer geklebt sind. Das Ziel hat sich noch geändert, es stand zu dem Zeitpunkt, als ich die Boxen gemacht habe, zur Diskussion. Aber auch das Schild ließ sich ändern.
In the middle I've added some more tropical flair.
In the background I've added some beach, another palm tree, the sea, the sun in the blue sky, and two sea gulls flying over the water.
The bottom of the box is covered with brown cardstock that looks like sand. On top of that I've added a suitcase, a beach towel and a party bucket... ;) The paperstraws are made from pieces of toothpicks, that I've covered with ink and glued into the bucket using my glue gun. The destination of the journey has changed after I've finished the boxes but also the sign was easy to change.
Und auf dem linken aufklappenden Seitenteil wollte ich das Thema Abitur nochmal aufgreifen. Also habe ich in rosa Abitur auf weißen Cardstock gestempelt und schwarz ein Bestanden darüber gesetzt. Darunter klebt ein aus türkisfarbenem Cardstock gestanztes Congrats und den Text "we are so proud of you" habe ich am PC geschrieben und ausgedruckt. Den Cardstock habe ich dann schwarz gemattet, in die Box geklebt und zum Schluss noch ein "graduation cap", gestanzt aus schwarzem Cardstock, mit aufgeklebt. Ich weiß, die trägt man bei uns nicht, aber ich hatte die Stanze nunmal und da wollte ich sie auch mal benutzen. Man weiß ja, was sie bedeuted.
And on the left of the opening sides I wanted to go with the Abitur theme again. So I've stamped Abitur onto some white cardstock using pink ink and then stamped a "passed" over it using black ink. Under it I've added a congrats die cut from turquoise cardstock and the text "we are so proud of you" was computer generated and printed with my home printer. Then I've matted the cardstock with some black cardstock and added a graduation cap, die cut from black cardstock as well. We don't use those here in Germany. But I had that die and wanted to use it. And we all know what it stands for.
