Rot und Grün ist ja die klassische Weihnachtskombi, geht bei mir aber so gar nicht. Deswegene zeige ich heute auf dem Stamping-Fairies Blog eine Weihnachtskarte, bei der ich farblich mal ganz andere Wege gegangen bin. Das klassische Rot kommt vor, aber sonst wollte ich keine weiteren Farben benutzen und habe das Motiv, bis auf einige rote Akzente, in Grautönen coloriert. Und ich finde sie wirklich schön.

Red and green is a classical christmas color combo - but I just don't like it. So I'm sharing this card over at the Stamping-Fairies Blog today, where I picked a color palette, that might not come to mind first thing when thinking of christmas colors. I used the classic christmas red, but didn't want to add any other colors. So besides a few red accents I used greys to color the image in. And I really like how it turned out.
Da das Motiv für sich sprechen sollte, habe ich auch den Hintergrund ganz dezent gehalten. Aber schwarz matten wollte ich die Szene dann nicht auch noch. Also habe ich einen Bogen aus dem Cool Collab Paper Pad von MFT mit schrägen roten und weißen Streifen gewählt und die Szene damit hinterlegt. Dann habe ich alles auf einen weißen Kartenrohling geklebt.
Den Text habe ich mit weißem Embossingpulver auf einen Streifen roten Cardstocks embosst und quer über die Karte geklebt.
I wanted the image to be the focus so I also kept the background pretty subtle. But I didn't want to use black cardstock to mat the cardstock. So I picked a sheet with red and white slanted stripes from the Cool Collab paper pad by MFT and matted my scene with it. Then I glued everything onto a white note card.
I white heat embossed the sentiment onto a strip of red cardstock and glued it across my card.
Und hier ist meine grau-rote Szene. Hund und Mädchen sind aus dem Stempelset Furry and Bright - wie übrigens auch der Text auf der Karte. Es gibt auch eine Katze mit Geweih in diesem Set, ich habe mich aber für den Hund entschieden.
Der Weihnachtsbaum ist aus dem Stempelset Secret Santa - der passte von der Größe her am besten. Ich habe den Santa, der eigentlich dahinter hervorschaut, einfach weggeschnitten.
Coloriert habe ich mit Copics, die kleinen Akzente wie die Punkte auf dem Geschenk oder der Glitzer auf dem Weihnachtsbaum sind mit einem weißen Gelpen gemacht.
Für den Hintergrund habe ich mir die Position meines Weihnachtsbaums grob mit einem Bleistift markiert und dann von dort hell ausgehend den Cardstock mit Distress Oxide Pumice Stone, Hickory Smoke und Black Soot gewischt. Da der Hintergrund doch ein wenig langweilig aussah, habe ich noch ein paar Wassertropfen darüber verteilt und anschließend mit einem silbernen Glitzer-Gelstift noch ein paar Glitzerpunkte aufgemalt.
And heres my red and grey scene. Dog and girl are from the Furry and Bright stamp set - as is the sentiment on the card. There's also a cat with antlers in this set but I went with the dog here.
The christmas tree is from the Secret Santa stamp set - it was the one that fit best in size. I cut off Santa, who's peeking from behind the tree.
I colored the images with Copics, then added a few little accents like dots on the present or the glitter on the tree with a white gel pen.
For the background I lightly marked the spot where my tree would be, than started there with the lightest color and inked up the cardstock with Distress Oxide Pumice Stone, Hickory Smoke and Black Soot. Since it looked a bit boring like that I added a few drops of water and afterwards I used a silver glitter gel pen to add a few glittery dots.
