Wie schon die letzten Male auch, habe ich auch diesmal, quasi als Reminder, eine weitere Karte nach dem aktuellen Sketch der Create a Smile Challenge gemacht. Die Karte ist super simpel - und wie öfters in letzter Zeit war sie eigentlich ganz anders geplant.

Like for the previous last challenges I made another card following the current sketch of the Create a Smile challenge as some kind of reminder. This card is super clean and simple - and as it happens more often lately I originally had a totally different plan in my head.
Ich habe hier zuerst den Regenbogen mit der Boho Pattern Stencil aus dem April-Release und Distress Oxide Candied Apple, Wild Honey, Squeezed Lemonade, Twisted Citron, Salvaged Patina und Shaded Lilac auf ein Stück Watercolor Cardstock aufgewischt. Dabei habe ich nur einen der Regenbögen aufgewischt, den dafür eben mehrfarbig. Anschließend habe ich durch den Stencil Distress Micro Glaze aufgetragen, mit dem Plan, ihn zu versiegeln. Wie man sieht, hat das nicht ganz geklappt. Ich kann nicht sagen, ob das Problem am Schreibtisch saß oder ob die Öffnungen im Stencil einfach zu klein waren, um das Glaze überall aufzutragen.
Eigentlich hatte ich geplant, den Hintergrund viel dunkler zu gestalten - und bin froh, dass ich es doch erst mit einer hellen Farbe probiert habe. Für das Ink Smooshing im Hintergrund habe ich Distress Ink Tumbled Glass verwendet - davon hatte ich von einer anderen Karte, die ich gerade fertiggestellt hatte, noch einen kleinen Rest auf einer Folie und wollte das zuerst aufbrauchen. Und dabei fiel mir dann sofort auf, dass der Regenbogen nicht komplett versiegelt ist - einige Stellen sind blau verdeckt und beim Versuch, die Farbe dort mit dem Pinsel abzunehmen, hat sich die Distress Farbe teilweise angelöst. Deswegen hat der Himmel rechts unten am Regenbogen einen leichten Grünstich.
Hm, was tun. Ich habe einfach den Stencil erneut aufgelegt und pro Farbe eine weitere Lage Distress Oxide aufgetragen. Deswegen ist der Regenbogen jetzt auch recht kräftig, eigentlich hatte ich den zarter geplant. Aber meine Befürchtung, dass das auf dem Micro Glaze nicht funktionieren würde, hat sich zum Glück nicht bestätigt.
Im Sketch sind ja drei Rechtecke mit einer Lücke unten rechts eingezeichnet. Dort habe ich den Regenbogen aufgebracht. Statt der Rechtecke habe ich die beiden kleineren Wolken aus dem Set Weather aus irisierendem Vellum gestanzt und sie aufgeklebt. Außerdem habe ich als Deko noch einige Glitzersterne, gestanzt aus silbernem Glitzercardstock mit einer Stanze aus dem Set Bookmark, aufgeklebt.
Und dann fehlte noch ein Text. Da die ganze Karte so einfach ist, hätte ein großer oder ausgestanzter Text einfach nicht gepasst. Also habe ich zwei Texte aus dem Set Keine Sorge genommen und mit schwarzer Tinte direkt links zwischen die beiden Wolken gestempelt.
Here I first stenciled the rainbow with the Boho Pattern stencil from the april release and Distress Oxide Candied Apple, Wild Honey, Squeezed Lemonade, Twisted Citron, Salvaged Patina and Shaded Lilac onto a piece of watercolor cardstock. I only stenciled down one of the rainbows, but to make up for that used individual colors for each arch. Then I put the stencil back on and applied Distress Micro Glaze through it to seal the rainbow. As you can see, that didn't work out so well. I can't tell if the problem was sitting at the craft desk or if some opening in the stencil were just too small to add the Glaze everywhere.
I had planned to make the background a lot darker - and am really happy, that I first tried a light color. For the ink smooshing in the background I used Distress Ink Tumbled Glass - form a card I had just finished I had some of that left on a piece of acetate and just wanted to use it up. And that's where I realized, that the rainbow isn't sealed completly - some small areas are covered by blue ink and when trying to carefully pick up that color, the Distress Oxides mixed up. That's also, why the sky at the right side of the rainbow has a slight touch of green.
Well, what should I do. I simply put the stencil back on and added another layer of each color. That's why the rainbow is pretty bright now, I wanted to make it a lot softer. But at least me being afraid of not being able to apply another layer of color on top of the Glaze didn't turn out to be necessary.
In the sketch there are drewn three rectangles with an empty spot at the bottom right. That's where I had stenciled the rainbow. I replaced those rectangles with the two smaller clouds from the Weather die set, cut from iridescent vellum, and also added a few tiny stars, cut from silver glitter cardstock using a die from the Bookmark set.
And then my card needed a text. Since the whole card was that clean, a large or die cut text just didn't seem right. So I used two texts from the Don't Worry set - they mean "Everything will be fine! It can't rain forever." - and stamped those with black ink between the two clouds on the left.
Hier könnt Ihr die irisierenden Wolken besser sehen - dieses Vellum kann man von oben recht schlecht fotografieren.
Und um dem ganzen zumindest eine Art Rahmen zu geben, habe ich den Cardstock wie so oft schwarz gemattet und dann auf einen weißen Kartenrohling geklebt.
Here you can see the iridescent clouds a lot better - that vellum is really hard to take a picture of from atop.
To give the whole scene at least some kind of frame, I added a black mat to the cardstock - as I do most of the times - and adhered it to a white note card.
