Am Wochenende gab es wieder eine Mitmachaktion in der FB-Gruppe von Create a Smile, diesmal mit einem Sketch. Ich hatte Basteltreffen und das war genau die Inspiration, die ich brauchte. Nun, kennt Ihr das - Ihr habt eine Idee und nichts klappt? So ging es mir mit der Karte - einige Motive haben den Weg in den Mülleimer gefunden und schließlich habe ich aufgegeben. Als ich die Karte, bzw. deren Teile, dann gestern wieder zur Hand nahm, ging alles ganz einfach. Und so habe ich gleich die Geburtstagskarte für meine Schwiegermutter daraus gemacht.

Over the weekend there was another "craft with us" over in the FB group of Create a Smile, this time with a sketch as the inspiration. Me and some friends had a craft get togeher at my house, and the sketch was exactly the inspiration I needed. Well, I'm sure it has happened to you, too - you have an idea but nothing works out? That's what happened to me that day - quite a few images were thrown in the trash and finally I gave up. When I gave the card, or the pieces I had made so far that I was happy with, another chance the day after, it all came together so easily. So I decided to turn this into the birthday card for my mother in law.
Für den Hintergrund habe ich den Herbstlaub-Stempel mit goldenem Embossingpulver auf weißen Cardstock embosst. Dann habe ich den Cardstock mit Distress Ink Scattered Straw, Spiced Marmalade, Fired Brick, Victorian Velvet und Aged Mahogany gewischt und anschließend etwas gelbes Distress Mica Spray aufgetropft.
Mit einer Hexagon-Stanze habe ich dann ein Fenster in den Cardstock gestanzt und mit derselben Stanze aus schwarzem Cardstock noch einen dünnen Rahmen gewerkelt - das Innenteil habe ich einfach mit der Schere herausgeschnitten.
For the background I gold heat embossed the Herbstlaub stamp onto a piece of white cardstock. Then I inked the cardstock with Distress Ink Scattered Straw, Spiced Marmalade, Fired Brick, Victorian Velvet and Aged Mahogany and flicked some yellow Distress Mica Spray onto it.
Using a hexagon die I cut a window into the cardstock and with the same die also create a thin frame from black cardstock - I used my scissors to simply cut out the inner piece.
Das ausgestanzte Stück Cardstock samt Rahmen habe ich auf ein Stück schwarzen Cardstock, etwas größer als mein gewischter Hintergrund geklebt. Dann habe ich darüber einen Flat Shaker gebaut, den ich mit goldenen Hexagon- und kupferfarbenen Herzkonfetti gefüllt habe. Anschließend habe ich das größere Teil des gewischten Cardstocks mit 3D Tape ebenfalls aufgeklebt, so dass der Shaker durch das Fenster sichtbar ist.
I adhered the cut out piece including the frame onto a piece of black cardstock, that I had cut slightly larger than my inked background. Then I created a flat shaker on top of the hexagon, filling it with gold hexagon and copper heart confetti. Then I attached the larger piece of my background with foam tape onto the black cardstock, so the shaker is visible in the window.

Wie schon erwähnt, waren bereits einige Motive im Müll gelandet, bis ich mich für die kleine Vogelscheuche aus dem Set Krähm dela Krähm entschieden und damit glücklich war. Sie hält eine Blume aus dem Set Dicke Freunde.
Zum Colorieren habe ich hier das erste Mal meine Ohuhu-Marker verwendet. Da ich immer noch Copic erhalte, die in Null-Komma-Nix austrocknen, habe ich nach einer Alternative gesucht und bin auf die Ohuhu gestoßen. Ich habe für ein 320 Marker Set etwas über 200 Euro bezahlt - und man kann wählen, welche Spitzen man möchte. Ich habe mich für Brush und Fine entschieden, prima für kleine Bereiche. Da es inzwischen auch Nachfüller für die Farben gibt, waren sie meine Top-Wahl. Klar kann ich nach einem Tag noch nicht so viel sagen - außer vielleicht, dass das Farbsystem nicht wirklich eines ist, aber mit einer Swatch habe ich passende Farben gefunden - aber ich bin wirklich begeistert. Ich werde auf jeden Fall weiter berichten.
Nach dem Colorieren habe ich die Motive ausgeschnitten und mit dünnem 3D Tape auf den Hintergrund geklebt. Oben rechts hinter der Vogelscheuche habe ich noch eine Sprechblase mit einem Geburtstagsgruß, gemacht mit zwei Stempeln aus dem Set Kleine Sprüche, aufgeklebt.
As I mentioned I had already thrown away a few images until I decided to try the scarecrow from the set Krähm dela Krähm and was happy with it. She's holding a flower from the Dicke Freunde stamp set. To color the images in I used my Ohuhu-Marker for the first time. I still get Copics that dry out in no time so I was looking for an alternative. I paid a bit over 200 Euros for a 320 marker set - and I was able to choose the tips. I went with brush and fine, which is perfect for small areas. Since they started selling refills, those were my first choice. Of course I can't say that much after just one day - maybe except that their color system really doesn't have to have a system but thanks to my swatch I was able to find matching colors for a good blend - but so far I really love them. I will keep you updated.
After I had colored the images I cut them out and adhered them with thin foam tape onto the background. Behind the scarcrow's head I placed a little speech bubble with a birthday greeting.
Quer über die Karte habe ich ein "von Herzen" gesetzt und dafür die Stanzen verwendet, die Christine anläßlich ihres Geburtstags zu einer Bestellung dazugelegt hat. Es soll sie aber wohl mit dem Oktober-Release auch regulär zu kaufen geben. Ich habe die Schattenlage aus schwarzem Cardstock, den Text aus matt-goldenem Metallic Cardstock gestanzt.
Entsprechend dem Sketch, den ich eh schon ein wenig abgewandelt habe, habe ich links neben dem Text drei kleine Hexagons aufgeklebt, die ich aus schwarzem Cardstock gestanzt habe. Darauf kamen dann zwei kleine Kürbisse aus dem Set Herbst Minis.
Across the card I placed a die cut "from the heart", made with the die that Christine added to orders as a gift when it was her birthday. But I've heard they will be available for purchase with the october release. I die cut the shadow layer from black cardstock, the text from matte gold metallic cardstock.
Following the sketch, that I already had altered a bit, I placed three small hexgons next to the text. I have die cut those from black cardstock again and put the small pumpkins from the Herbst Minis set on top.
Als Deko habe ich dann noch drei kleine weiße Herzen aufgeklebt und alles auf einem weißen Kartenrohling angebracht.
To decorate the card just a bit I added three small white hearts and then adhered everything to a white note card.
