Die Karte, die ich Euch heute zeige, ist für die Technique Throwback Thursday Challenge im November entstanden. Die Technik im Video des Monats zeigt, wie man per Partial Die Cutting und einem Papierschneider eine besondere Kartenfront mit halb überhängendem Motiv macht. Und natürlich habe ich eine weitere Weihnachtskarte für Euch.

Today's card is the one I made for this month's Technique Throwback Thursday Challenge. The technique in the showcased video is about making an unusal card front with an overhanging image by doing partial die cutting and using a paper cutter.  And of course I created another christmas card.

 

Den Kartenrohling habe ich aus weißem Cardstock gemacht und auf den oberen Bereich den Christmas Background von MFT mit einem goldenen Pearl-Embossingpulver aufembosst. Das Motiv, das ich bereits aufgestempelt hatte, habe ich dabei maskiert, wobei ich das später gelayert habe und man vom Original nicht mehr viel sieht... Außerdem habe ich rundum einen Streifen von etwa 0,5 cm mit Maskiertape abgeklebt, so dass ein weißer Rand stehengeblieben ist.

 

I made the card base from white cardstock and heat embossed the Christmas Background by MFT onto the front using a gold pearl embossing powder. I stamped the image on before and masked it off. I did some layering there later and you don't see much of the originally stamped down image anymore. I also put strips of masking tape all around the edge of the front, masking off about 0,5 cm to have a white edge.  

 

 Das Motiv ist von Crafters Companion - und eigentlich ist es an den Seiten höher. Ich habe sie etwas niedriger gemacht, einfach weil es mir hier besser gefallen hat. Das Motiv ist ein Layering Set und auch die dazugehörigen Stanzen sind darauf ausgelegt. Sie prägen auch das Schnörkelmuster in die Schleifenteile.

Ich habe die Motive mit Copics coloriert. Die Beeren habe ich mit Glossy Accents überzogen. 

Der Text, den man unter dem Motiv sieht, ist tatsächlich auf der Innenseite der Karte angebracht. Die habe ich mit grünem Cardstock beklebt.

 

The image is by Crafters Companion - and it's taller on the sides originally. I just cut off part of it because I didn't like my image to be that tall on my card. The image is a layering set and also has matching dies. Those also deboss the flourish pattern into the bow pieces.

I colored the images with Copics. The berries I covered with Glossy Accents. 

The text under the image is actually put onto the inside of the card. I glued a piece of green cardstock on the inside.

 

Hier kann man die Tiefe des Motivs und auch die schräg angeschnittene Kartenfront mit dem überhängenden Motiv bessesr erkennen. Als Deko habe ich drumherum einige goldene Steinchen aufgeklebt. 

 

Here you can see the depth of the image and also the angled cut card front with the overhanging image better. As decoration I added a few gold rhinestones.

 

 Die Kartenfronnt wird nach oben aufgeklappt. 

Der gestempelte Text ist aus dem Bitty Holiday Wishes Stempelset von MFT und weiß auf den grünen Cardstock embosst. Dabei habe ich ihn so aufgeteilt, dass ich das aus goldenem Spiegelcardstock gestanzte christmas dazwischen setzen konnte. Dafür habe ich eine Stanze von Scrapbook.com verwendet.

Zum Schluss habe ich noch einen Rahmen mit einem weißen Gelstift aufgemalt.

 

The card base is top folding.

The stamped text is from Bitty Holiday Wishes by MFT. I white heat embossed it onto the green cardstock, moving the individual words a bit to be able to cut the die cut word christmas inbetween. I cut that from gold mirror cardstock using a die by Scrapbook.com. 

As the last step I drew a frame with a white gel pen onto the green cardstock.

 

Weihnachtskarte mit Zug

Heute habe ich eine Weihnachtskarte für Euch, für die eigentlich keine Weihnachtsprodukte  zum Einsatz kamen. Und trotzdem ist sie absolut weihnachtlich, zumindest für alle, die den Polar Express kennen.

Today I have a christmas card for you, that I didn't use any specific christmas product for. And still it's very christmas-sy, at least to all, that know the Polar Express.

 

Meine Große hat mir vor einiger Zeit ein Bild geschickt, auf dem sie gerade den Film Polar Express schaut. Der gehört bei uns jedes Jahr zum Pflichtprogramm. Ja, sie war etwas früh dran, aber es gibt nichts besseres, um in Weihnachtsstimmung zu kommen. Und das hat mich dann dazu inspiriert, diese Karte zu machen. 

 Für den Hintergrund habe ich ein Stück weißen Cardstocks mit Distress Ink Stormy Sky, Faded Jeans und Chipped Sapphire gewischt. Dann habe ich mit dem Tall Pines Embossingfolder von SimonSaysStamp die Tannen im Hintergrund eingeprägt. Damit die besser zur Geltung kommen, habe ich mit einem Brayer Versafine Clair Twilight auf die erhabenen Bäume aufgetragen. 

Ich habe die Bäume mit Papier abgedeckt und nur auf den Himmel golene Metallic-Watercolor als Sterne aufgespritzt. 

Für den winterlichen Look habe ich die Bäume dann noch beschneit, und sie damit, zugegebenermaßen, relativ abgedeckt. Ich habe mit einem Versamark Marker Embossingtinte aufgetragen und dann weißes Puff-Embossingpulver aufgestreut. Das pufft beim Erhitzen auf und sieht wie Schnee aus, ist aber durch den Versamark-Stift sehr viel genauer aufzutragen als z. B. Schneepaste. 

 

My oldest sent me a pic a little ago where she was watching the Polar Express movie. It's a must for us every year. Yes, she might have been a bit early but is there anything better to get in a christmas mood? And it inspired me to make this card.

For the background I inked a piece of white cardstock with Distress Ink Stormy Sky, Faded Jeans and Chipped Sapphire. Then I used the Tall Pines embossingfolder by SimonSaysStamp to emboss the pines into the cardstock. To make them more noticable I used a brayer to apply some Versafine Clair Twilight only onto the raised areas.

I covered the trees with paper and splattered gold metallic watercolor as stars only onto the sky.

For the wintery touch I covered the trees with snow, and, I admit it, covered those up pretty much. I used a Versamark pen to apply some embossing ink and then put White Puff embossing powder into the ink. It puffs up when it gets heated up and looks like snow. And with the Versamark pen it is a lot easier to apply it only in the areas you want to have covered with snow, unlike other things like snow paste.

 

 Brücke und Zug sind aus einem Stanzenset, das ich vor kurzem bei Amazon erstanden habe. Und nein, es ist keine Kopie eines bekannten Herstellers - es gibt auch "Billighersteller", die ihre eigenen Designs habe. Und da gehe ich immer auf absolut Nummer sicher, bevor ich so ein Set bestelle.

Ich habe die Brücke, die eigentlich viel länger ist, aus hellgrauem Cardstock gestanzt. Sie ist eigentlich niedriger, ich habe die Pfeiler per Partial Diecutting verlängert. Ich habe die Brücke dreimal gestanzt und einmal die komplette Brücke, einmal nur die Bögen und einmal die Teile, die ich dann dunkler coloriert habe, verwendet. Alles habe ich mit Copics schattiert und mit dünnem 3D Tape aufeinander geklebt. 

Per Hand habe ich noch Schattenteile für die Bögen aus dunkelgrauem Cardstock gestanzt und hinter die Brücke geklebt, um ihr etwas Dimension zu geben.

Die Tannen im Vordergrund sind aus einem Stempelset von SU. Ich habe sie mit Versafine Clair Twilight abgestempelt und dann mit der Schere ausgeschnitten. Ja, das war eine ziemliche Fitzelei, aber das Ergebnis wert. 

Auch auf die gestempelten Bäume und die Brückenteile habe ich dann das White Puff als Schnee aufgetragen.

Die Teile des Zugs habe ich aus weißem Cardstock gestanzt und mit Copics coloriert. Für die silbernen Teile habe ich einen Gelstift verwendet. Und den Rauch habe ich aus Vellum gestanzt. Dafür habe ich den Dampf, der eigentlich aus dem Zauberkessel des A Little Spooky Stanzensets von HoneyBeeStamps aufsteigt, verwendet. Ich habe ihn aufs Gesicht gedreht und an einer schmalen Stelle schräg abgeschnitten. So passt er prima zum Zug - auch wenn mein Mann behauptet, er sieht ein wenig wie ein Eichhörnchen aus... ;)

Hinter die Fenster des Zugs habe ich gelben Cardstock geklebt und sie mit einer dünnen Schicht Glossy Accents überzogen. Und natürlich brauchte auch der Zug Schnee auf den Dächern. 

 

Bridge and train I made with a die set, that I got from Amazon a little ago. And no, it's not any kind of knock off of a known brand - there are also others, that create their own designs. And I always make that sure before buying a set like that.

I die cut the bridge, that's originally a lot longer, from light grey cardstock. It's also smaller so I did some partial diecutting to make the piers taller. I die cut the bridge three times and used the whole piece, from the next just the arches and from the last one the pieces that I colored a darker grey. I shaded all the parts with Copics and put the bridge together with thin foam tape.

I also used my scissors to cut some shadow pieces from dark grey cardstock and glued those behind the bridge to give it some dimension.  

The pine trees in the foreground are made using a stamp from a set by SU. I stamped it with Versafine Clair Twilight and then cut it out with my scissors. Yes, that was real fussy cutting but absolutely worth the result.

I covered the trees and the bridge with the White Puff as snow again.

The train parts I cut from white cardstock and colored them with Copics. I used a silver gel pen for the silver pieces. And the smoke I cut from vellum. I used the steam, that's comes out of the cauldron from the A Little Spooky die set by HoneyBeeStamps, here. I turned it face down and cut it off at an angle in a spot, where it is as thin as possible. Now it fits great behind/above the train - even with my husband saying it looks like a squirrel... ;)

I put yellow cardstock behind the windows of the train and covered them with a thin layer of Glossy Accents. And of course the train needed some snow, too.

 

 Oben auf den Himmel, direkt über dem Zug, habe ich dann meinen Text aufembosst. Natürlich hatte ich nichts, das irgendwie zum Polar Express passte. Aber dieser Text aus dem Wonder of Christmas Set von HoneyBeeStamps passt genauso gut, finde ich. 

Ich habe ihn mit weißem Embossingpulver direkt auf den Hintergrund embosst. 

 

Onto the sky, right above the train, I added the text of my card. Of course I didn't have anything Polar Express specific. But I think this text from Wonder of Christmas by HoneyBeeStamps works wonderfully as well.

I white heat embossed it directly onto the background.

 

 Ich habe alle Elemente auf den Hintergrund geklebt und dabei vor und hinter der Brücke jeweils eine Lage Schnee, gestanzt aus weißem Cardstock, eingefügt. Dann habe ich mit weißer Acrylfarbe über alles dicke Schneeflocken gespritzt.

Auf die Zugteile und auch die Spitzen der Tannen im Vordergrund habe ich dann noch kleine silberne Sternkonfetti geklebt. 

Zum Schluss habe ich alles auf einen weißen Kartenrohling geklebt.

 

I glued all the elements onto the background and added a layer of snow, cut from white cardstock, behind and in front of the bridge. Then I used white acrylic paint to splatter snowflakes over the whole scene.

I glued tiny silver star confetti onto the train and also the tips of the trees in the foreground.

As the last step I adhered the card panel to a white note card.

 

Karte mit Meer im Winter

Ich habe ja schon öfter betont, dass für mich maritime Karten nur im Sommer gehen. Nun, wenn der Enkel, der wie alle Jungs Wale, Dinos und Haie liebt, Geburtstag hat, dann macht Oma gerne mal eine Ausnahme. Und so gibt es heute eine Karte mit Meer von mir, mitten im Winter.

I've mentioned here several times already that I can only do maritime cards in summer. Well, when your grandson, that loves dinosaurs, wales and sharks like any little boy, celebrates his birthday, then grandma can make an exception. An so I am sharing an ocean card with you today, right in the middle of winter. 

 

Die Front der Karte besteht aus Folie, durch sie kann man bereits die Szene im Inneren sehen.

Ich habe dafür einen Streifen weißen Cardstocks in der Breite meiner Kartenbasis zugeschnitten und die obere Kante wolkenförmig ausgestanzt. Gute 2 cm danach habe ich dann eine Falzlinie gezogen und die Wolken nach vorne geknickt. Auf die Wolken kam dann das Acetate in Kartengröße und obenauf habe ich eine weitere Lage Wolken gesetzt, um den Kleber zu verdecken. 

 

The card front is made from acetate, through it you can see the scene on the inside.

I used a cloud border die to cut the top edge of a strip of white cardstock the width of my card into a cloud shape, then scored the cardstock about 2 cm from the clouds and folded the clouds up. Then I adhered the acetate on top of the clouuds and put another cloud piece on top to cover the glue.

 

 Auf die untere Hälfte des Acetate habe ich dann einige Lagen Wellen aufgeklebt, die ich mit diversen Wellenstanzen aus verschiedenen Tönen blauen Cardstocks gestanzt habe. Die dunkelblaue Lage befindet sich hier übrigens auf der Innenseite der Karte.

Da auf/im Meer immer was los ist, habe ich die Kartenfront noch mit zwei Möwen und einer Haifischflosse dekoriert. Die Möwen samt Holzstempen sind mit dem Oh Buoy Set von Spellbinders gemacht. Bei der schwimmenden Möwe habe ich die Füße weggelassen und sie hinter eine der Wellenreihen gesetzt. Außerdem habe ich hier die Stanzteile aufs Gesicht gedreht, damit sie in die andere Richtung schaut. Coloriert habe ich die Motive, die ich alle aus weißem Cardstock gestanzt habe, mit Copics.

Weiter oben habe ich zwei kleine Wolken auf die Folie geklebt. Übrigens habe ich die höchste Wellenlage sowie auch die kleinen Wolken ein weiteres Mal gestanzt und von hinten gegengleich gegen das Acetate geklebt, damit man auch hier den Kleber auf der Rückseite nicht sieht. 

Und rund um die Szene habe ich hier mit einem schwarzen Glaze Pen einen Rahmen aufgemalt. 

 

Onto the lower half of the acetate I adhered a few layeres that I cut from different shades of blue cardstock using different wave border dies. The dark blue layer is put on the inside of the card.

Since there's always something going on in/on the ocean I decorated the card front with two seagulls and a shark fin. The seagulls and the wooden post are made using the Oh Buoy set by Spellbinders. I didn't add the feet to the swimming seagull and glued it behind one of the wave borders. This seagull I also turned face down to make it look the other way.  I colored the images, that I all cut from white cardstock, with Copics.

Onto the area between the waves and the clouds at the top edge I adhered two small clouds. The tallest row of waves and also those two small clouds I cut again and glued them to the back of the acetate, again to cover the glue.

Around the scene I drew a frame using a black Glaze pen.

 

Nun muss ich kurz ausholen. Vor etwa 20 Jahren, als meine Zwillinge noch klein waren, habe ich mal ein Buch gekauft. Es hat die Form eines Burgers und darin gestalten zwei Kinder, denen ein ominöser Dieb immer die Burger klaut, einen Ekelburger. Auf jeder Seite des Burgers, die jeweils die verschiedenen Burgerbeläge zeigen, gibt es einen PopUp-Mechanismus unter einer Klappe. Öffnet man sie, kommt verschiedenes Ungeziefer zum Vorschein. Ja, für solchen Quatsch bin ich anfällig. Mein Enkel liebt dieses Buch, auch wenn er sich bis jetzt nicht traut, die Klappe, hinter der sich die zugegegebenermaßen große, sehr realistische und richtig eklige Spinne befindet, zu öffnen. Aber dieses Buch hatte ich im Sinn und wollte ein interaktives Element auf der Karte einbauen. Das sieht dann so aus:

 

I have to do a bit of story time here. About 20 years ago, when my twins were still little, I bought a book. It has the shape of a burger and in the story two kids create a really awful burger because someone is stealing their burgers. Each of the pages, that show the usual stuff you put on a burger, has a pop-up under a flap. When you open the flap, all kinds of bugs and other disgusting animals show up. Yes, I am know for buying stuff like that. My grandson loves this book, even if he still doesn't dare to open the flap, that hides a large, really realistic and disgusting looking spider.  I had that book in mind and wanted to include an interactive element on my card. This is what it looks like:

 

 Öffnet man die Karte, taucht zwischen der Wellenlinie im Inneren der Karte ein Hai auf. Und der hat das Geschenk und den Luftballon dabei, die man bereits durch das Acetate sehen konnte.

Ich habe hier eine Slider Card gemacht. Die besteht aus einem Streifen Cardstocks mit einer Lasche am oberen Ende, die ich oben hinter die Wolkenkante geklebt habe. Unten ist der Streifen hinter den dunkelblauen Cardstock gesteckt. So wandert er beim Öffnen der Karte nach oben. Den Mechanismus habe ich tatsächlich an einen angelehnt, den Jennifer McGuire vor etwa 3 Jahren mal in einem Video gezeigt hat, um eine Giftcard auf einer Karte zu verstecken. 

 

When you open the card a shark is coming up between the waves and he's bringing the present and balloon, that you can see through the front of the card.

I made some kind of slider card here. It's made from a strip of cardstock with a flap at the top, that I glued behind the clouds at the top. At the bottom the cardstock is tucked behind the dark blue cardstock. This way it slides up when the card gets opened. I kind of got the mechanism from a video that Jennifer McGuire shared about 3 years ago where she hid a giftcard inside a card.

 

 So sieht die Karte dann komplett geöffnet aus. 

Für den Streifen für den Mechanismus habe ich hellblauen Cardstock genommen und mit ein wenig Distress Ink Broken China gewischt.

I used light blue cardstock for the mechanism strip and lightly shaded it with Distress Ink Broken China.

 

 Der Hai ist Teil eines Sets, das ich vor einigen Monaten mal bei Amazon erstanden hatte, genau mit meinem Enkel im Kopf. 

Ich habe ihn aus hell- und dunkelgrauem Cardstock, den Mund aus korallefarbenem und die Zähne aus weißem Cardstock gestanzt und alles mit Copics schattiert. Der Luftballon ist aus dem Set Heart Hugs von HoneyBeeStamps, das Geschenk aus Build-a-Critter Christmas Accessoires von LawnFawn. 

 

The shark is part of a die set, that I got on Amazon a few months ago, and that I bought with my grandson in mind.

I die cut it from light and dark grey cardstock, for the mouth I used coral and for the teeth white cardstock, then shaded all the pieces with Copics. The balloon is from Heart Hugs by HoneyBeeStamps, the present from Build-a-Critter Christmas Accessoires by LawnFawn.

 

 Wie auch bekannt ist, liebe ich Wortspiele. Natürlich kann er das noch nicht lesen oder verstehen, aber ich fand es ganz lustig. Da er 5 Jahre geworden ist, passte ein "high five", abewandelt in "hai 5" doch prima. 

Ich habe die Buchstaben und die Zahl jeweils aus grauem und hellblauem Cardstock gestanzt, mit Copics schattiert und leicht versetzt aufeinander geklebt. Die habe ich dann auf der Karte platziert und links und rechts ein paar Wassertropfen angebracht. 

Den Text darunter habe ich mit Stempeln aus dem Kleine Worte Set von Stampcorner zusammengesetzt und weiß auf eine weitere Wellenlage aus dunkelblauem Cardstock embosst. Den habe ich dann aufgeklebt - die Wellenkante hier unterbricht die  große dunkelblaue Fläche zumindest ein wenig.

 

As you also know do I love puns. Of course my grandson can not read or understand it, but I thought it funny. He turned 5 years old so a "high five", written like "hai (which is pronunced just like high but means shark in german) 5" would work great.

I die cut the letters and number from light grey and light blue cardstock, shaded them with Copics and stacked them a bit offset. Then I put them onto the card and added a few water splashes to both sides.

The text underneath means "happy birthday to you". I white heat embossed it onto another wave layer, again cut from dark blue cardstock, and glued it onto the card. The wavy border here just breaks up that large dark blue area a bit.

 

Krippenszene - etwas aufgemischt

Ich bin ja nicht religiös und mache daher auch eher selten klassisch religiöse Karten. Aber zu Weihnachten mache ich eine Ausnhame. Und so zeige ich Euch heute eine Karte mit einer klassischen - okay, etwas durchgemischten - Krippenszene.

I am not religious in any way so I rarely make religious cards. But I am making an exception for christmas. And so I am sharing with you a card with a traditional - okay, a bit mixed up - nativity scene.

 

Basis war wieder ein Trifold Kartenset von ScrappyTails - ich fand die Rahmen hier so besonders und kann mir die auch super für Märchenszene etc. vorstellen. Deswegen musste ich das Nativity Trifold Set unbedingt haben. 

 

As the base I used another trifold card die set by ScrappyTails - I really loved the frames/shapes here and can easily picture those with fairytale scenes etc. So I had to buy the Nativity Trifold set.

 

 Schauen wir uns erstmal die komplett geschlossene Karte an. Es gibt einige AddOns zu dem Nativity Set, die ich aber nicht habe. Also habe ich mir teilweise mit Stanzen anderer Firmen, die ich bereits seit mehr oder weniger längerer Zeit habe, beholfen.

Die vorderen beiden Trifold-Teile sind etwas kürzer, das mittlere höher. Bei geschlossener Karte sieht man das hinter den niedrigeren Teilen hervorschauen.

Ich habe alle Rahmen aus goldenem Schimmer-Cardstock gestanzt. Okay, eigentlich sind es komplette Seiten, ich habe die Innenteile mit der Schere herausgeschnitten. Außerdem habe ich alle Teile aus hellblauem Cardstock gestanzt. Die habe ich dann für einen Nachthimmel-Look mit Distress Ink Stormy Sky, Chipped Sapphire und Black Soot gewischt und anschließend goldene Metallic-Watercolor aufgespritzt.

 

Let's take a look at the closed card first. There are several AddOn sets for the Nativity set, but I don't have those. So I used some older dies by different brands, that I have had for quite some time, for parts of this card.  

The two front flaps are a bit smaller, the center one taller. When the card is closed, this center one is peeking out from behind the front flaps.

I die cut all frames from gold pearlescent cardstock. Okay, the dies only cut the full pages, I cut out the inner pieces with my scissors. I also die cut all the pages from light blue cardstock. For a night sky look I inked them with Distress Ink Stormy Sky, Chipped Sapphire and Black Soot and then splattered gold metallic watercolor onto them.

 

 Im Stempelset The Christmas Story von TheGreetery gibt es einen Textstempel, der zweispaltig den Bibeltext der Weihnachtsgeschichte stempelt. Auf die Vorderseite der Karte habe ich die erste Spalte weiß auf den Himmel embosst. 

 

The stamp set The Christmas Story by TheGreetery contains a text stamp, that stamps the christmas story from the bible in two columns. I white heat embossed the first column  onto the sky of the front page.

 

 Die Stadt, die ich im unteren Bereich aufgeklebt habe, ist mit dem Little Town of Bethlehem Set von MFT gemacht. Außerdem habe ich noch die Panorama Palmen von Charlie und Paulchen benutzt. 

Ich habe die einzelnen Lagen aus hellbraunem Cardstock gestanzt und mit brauner Tinte etwas schattiert. Hinter die Fenster habe ich dunkelbraunen Cardstock geklebt, die Palmen sind aus schwarzem Cardstock gestanzt.

 

The town, that I glued onto the bottom of the page, is made with the Little Town of Bethlehem die set. I also used the palm trees from the Panorama Palmen die by Charlie und Paulchen. 

I die cut the different layers from light brown cardstock and shaded it with darker brown ink. I put dark brown cardstock behind the windows, the palm trees I cut from black cardstock.

 

 Die zusammengelegte Karte ist wieder etwas höher ausgefallen, was aber teilweise daran liegt, dass ich die Rahmen mit dickem 3D Tape aufgeklebt  habe.

 

The closed card is again quite thick, but that's partly because I used thick foam tape to adhere the gold frames. 

 

 Öffnet man die erste Kartenlage, sieht man links bereits einen Teil der Szene, der bei komplett offener Karte zu sehen ist. 

Die hier rechte Seite ist bei komplett geöffneter Karte nicht mehr zu sehen, da sie sich auf der Rückseite der rechten Hauptszene befindet.

 

When you open the first flap you already see part of the scene, that's visible when the card is opened completley, on the left.

The right side isn't visible anymore once the card is opened completly because it's the back of the right flap of the scene.

 

 Auf diese rechte Seite habe ich die zweite Spalte der Weihnachtsgeschichte weiß auf den Himmel embosst. 

 

On this right side I white heat embossed the second column of the christmas story onto the sky.

 

 Unter den Text habe ich eine weitere Stadtszene angebracht. Die ist mit den selben Stanzen gemacht, sie sind nur etwas anders angeordnet bzw. etwas verschoben.

 

  Under the text I glued down another town scene. I used the same dies for it, they are just put together differently/moved a bit.

 

 Öffnet man auch die rechte Seite, dann kann man schon fast die komplette Szene sehen. Nur die halbrunde Klappe muss noch heruntergezogen werden, die sorgt nämlich für einen  3D-Effekt der Karte.

 

When you open the right flap, too, you can nearly see the complete scene. You only have to pull down the rounded flap, that turns the scene into a 3D scene.

 

 Und hier ist die komplette Szene.

Ich  hatte ja schon erwähnt, dass ich die Szene etwas um-arrangiert habe. Nun, es fing damit an, dass ich den Stall - zumindest angedeutet - hinzugefügt habe. Dadurch war Josef etwas zu groß für die Szene in der Mitte der Karte und er musste samt Esel auf die rechte Seite umziehen. Es gibt ein AddOn mit einem Schäfer, der hier den perfekten Josef abgegeben hätte, aber das habe ich blöderweise nicht.  Nun sah Maria mit dem Kind aber etwas einsam aus, also habe ich einen der Heiligen 3 Könige mit in den Stall gesetzt.  Und weil der ja nie alleine kommt, habe ich die übrigen Könige auf die linke Seite der Karte gesetzt. Ich denke, man kann trotzdem erkennen, dass das hier eine Krippenszene ist, oder?

 

And here's the complete scene.  

I already mentioned that I re-arranged the scene a bit. It all started with me adding the stable - at least a frame of one. That made Joseph too large for the scene in the center of the card and he and the donkey had to move to the right side of the card. There's an AddOn with a shepherd, that would have made the perfectly sized Joseph here, but sadly I don't have that. Now Maria and the baby looked a bit lost so I added one of the Three Wise Men. And because there's never just one of them I just added the other two to the left flap. Well, I guess you can still tell that this is a nativity scene, right?

 

 Auf den Hintergrund des mittleren Kartenteils habe ich wieder eine kleine Stadt samt Palmen aufgeklebt. Die Stadt ist diesmal mit der Bethlehem Panorama Stanze von Charlie und Paulchen gemacht. 

Oben am Himmel befindet sich natürlich der Weihnachtsstern. Den habe ich aus goldenem Spiegel-Cardstock mit einer Stanze aus dem Nativity Trifold Set gestanzt. Aus dem Set sind die meisten der Figuren auf der Karte, so dass ich das nicht mehr extra erwähnen werde.

 

Onto the background of the center part of the card I adhered another town with palm trees. For the town I used the Bethlehem Panorama die by Charlie und Paulchen.

And up in the sky there's the christmas star. I die cut that from gold mirror cardstock using a die from the Nativity Trifold set. Most of the smaller images are from this set so I won't mention it again.  

 

 Der Stall samt Figuren ist auf zwei Laschen auf dem nach unten/vorne klappenden Teil der Karte angebracht. Der ist mit dem Trifold PopUp Stanzenset von ScrappyTails und wieder aus hellbraunem Cardstock gestanzt.

Der Stall ist aus dem Nativity Set von MFT. Eigentlich ist er nicht so hoch, ich habe die Seiten per Partial Diecutting verlängert.

Alle Figuren auf der Karte sind mit Copics und Polychromos coloriert. Die Stanzen gestalten tolle Detail-Linien in der Stanze, es gibt auch noch kleinere Stanzen für die Details. Auf die habe ich hier aber verzichtet und die Details durch die Coloration hervorgehoben. 

Im Stall sorgen zwei Laternen von LawnFawn für Licht. Und oben am Dach des Stalls fliegt eine Taube aus dem Christmas Shadow Box Set von Sizzix. 

 

 The stable and the figures are attached to two flaps on the folding down piece of the card. I made that using the Trifold PopUp die set by ScrappyTails, again from light brown cardstock.

The stable is from the Nativity set by MFT. It's not so tall originally, I made it taller by doing some partial die cutting.

I colored all figures on this card with Copics and Polychromos. The dies cut amazing details into the die cuts. There are also smaller dies for the details included in the set. I skipped those here and brought out the details with the coloring.

Two lanterns by LawnFawn are bringing some light to the stable. And on the roof there's a dove from Christmas Shadow Box by Sizzix.

 

 Auf der linken Seite der Karte habe ich dann erst zwei Lagen Sand aufgeklebt. Die hintere ist dabei mit der Berge Stanze von Kulricke gemacht.

 

On the left part of the card I first glued down two layers of sand, using a mountain border die by Kulricke for the taller one.

 

Die Schafe und übrigen zwei Könige sind wieder aus weißem Cardstock gestanzt und coloriert. Die Könige bieten sich eigentlich super dafür an, sie in tollen, satten Farben wie weinrot oder dunkel-lila zu colorieren. Ich wollte aber keine weitere Farbe auf die Karte bringen, deswegen tragen alle blaue Gewänder. 

 

The sheep and two kings I die cut again from white cardstock and colored them. Those kings are perfectly to color them in bright, rich colors like dark red or dark purple. But I didn't want to bring more colors to the card so all are wearing blue here.

 

 Irgendwo brauchte meine Karte auch einen Text, aber ein klassiches "frohe Weihnachten" passte für mich einfach nicht.

Also habe ich auf der linken Seite ein "joy to the world" angebracht. Das größere Joy ist dabei aus dem Stempelset Holy Night von Renke und direkt weiß auf den Hintergrund embosst. Der kleinere Textteil darunter ist mit dem Bitty Holiday Wishes von MFT auf hellblauen Cardstock embosst, anschließend habe ich ihn aufgeklebt.

 

My card needed a text somewhere, but a traditional "merry christmas" didn't feel right to me.

So I added a "joy to the world" to the left flap of the card. The large word joy is from Holy Night by Renke and white heat embossed right onto the background. The smaller part of the text I white heat embossed onto light blue cardstock and glued it on. It's from Bitty Holiday Wishes by MFT.

 

 Auch auf der rechten Seite der Karte habe ich erst zwei Lagen Sand auf den Hintergrund geklebt.

 

Also onto the right side of the card I first glued two layers of sand onto the background.

 

 Hier fanden Joseph und der Esel Platz. Um den Hintergrund ein wenig zu füllen habe ich noch zwei Schafe aus dem Nativity Set von MFT aus schwarzem Cardstock gestanzt und hinter den größeren Figuren aufgeklebt. 

 

Here Joseph and the donkey found their place. To fill up the background a bit I die cut two sheep from Nativity by MFT from black cardstock and glued them behind the larger figures.

 

 Hier habe ich dann ein "peace on earth" auf den Himmel gestempelt. Beide Textteile sind wieder aus Holy Night von Renke und Bitty Holiday Wishes von MFT. 

Zu dem Text passt einfach eine weitere Taube, also habe ich sie unter dem Text auf den Himmel geklebt.

And with this text a dove just went perfectly, so I glued one under the text onto the sky.

Picture Frame Card zum Laternenfest

 

Hallo Ihr Lieben!

Manchmal habe ich so gar keine Ahnung, was ich basteln möchte oder könnte. Dann gehe ich auf der Suche nach Inspiration gerne meine Stanzen oder Stempel durch. Als es das letzte Mal so weit war, habe ich die Panorama-Stanzen entdeckt. Davon habe ich recht viele - sowohl die von Charlie und Paulchen als auch die ähnlichen Sets von Action - und so haben sie eine eigene "Abteilung" in meinem Stanzenschrank. Aber irgendwie übersehe ich sie immer. Diesmal habe ich sie bewusst angeschaut und beim Anblick der Laternenkinder ist mir aufgefallen, dass ich dieses Jahr noch gar keine Karte zum St.-Martins-Tag gemacht habe. In den letzten Jahren habe ich immer rund um den St-Martins-Tag eine Karte mit irgendeiner Art von Laterne gemacht. Und so war die Idee zu dieser Karte geboren.

 

Hello everyone!

Sometimes I have no idea what I want to make. So as inspiration I go through my stamps and dies. Last time, when I was a bit clueless about my next card, I came across the panorama dies. I have quite a lot of them - by Charlie und Paulchen as well as the similar sets from Action - and so they have their own "section" in my die stash. But somehow I tend to overlook them. Last time I went through them and when I saw the kids with the lanterns I realized, that I hadn't made a St.-Martin card yet this year. St.-Martin-day is on 11th of november, so it's today, and traditionally the smaller kids walk the streets with lit up lanterns they made theirselves in Kindergarden. They sing St.-Martin songs, read the story of holy St. Martin (most of the times even play the story) and afterwards come together to have some hot drinks and food. The last years I always made a card, that included some kind of lantern, showing it around St.-Martin day. And that's how I got the idea for today's card.

 

 Nun, im ersten Moment sieht man von den Laternen gar nicht so viel - nur durch das Fenster, das ich in die Kartenfront eingebaut habe. Und eigentlich ist das auch gar keine Karte, sondern eher ein Bilderrahmen...

Ich habe über den Bilderrahmen, den Ihr gleich noch sehen werdet, eine Klappe aus blau-grauem Cardstock gelegt, aus dem ich ein Rechteck, etwas kleiner als das Fenster, ausgeschnitten habe.

Auf den Cardstock habe ich mit einem grauen Marker Linien gemalt. Die sind aber doch nach dem Trocknen ziemlich verblasst, ich wollte aber keinen dunkleren Marker nehmen, da ich Angst hatte, dass der dann durch den Cardstock blutet. Also habe ich stattdessen einen dünnen weißen Gelstift benutzt und auf jeden grauen Streifen noch einen schmalen weißen Strich aufgemalt. 

Um die Karte geschlossen zu halten habe ich links und rechts vom Fenster jeweils gelb-goldenes Band angeklebt, um die Karte gewickelt und rechts zu einer Schleife gebunden. 

 

Well, you don't see much of the lanterns at first sight - just a glimpse through the window that I included in the card front. And actually it's not even a real card but more of a picture frame...

I covered the frame, that you'll see more of just a bit later, with a flap made from grey-ish blue cardstock. From this flap I cut a rectangle slightly smaller than the window.

I used a grey marker to draw lines onto the card front. After the ink had dried the color had lightened pretty much but I didn't dare using a darker tone, being afraid it might bleed through the cardstock. So instead I brought out a thin white gel pen and drew a white line onto each grey strip. 

To keep the card closed I glued some gold-yellow ribbon to the left and right of the window,  wrapped it around the frame and tied it to a bow at the right edge.

 

 Aus weißem Cardstock habe ich mit der Window Frame Stanze von LawnFawn zweimal das Fenster aus weißem Cardstock gestanzt und mit Copics schattiert. Hinter eines der Fenster habe ich Folie geklebt und dann jeweils eines auf jeder Seite des grau-blauen Cardstocks aufgeklebt.

Die Vorhänge sind mit der Take the Stage Stanze von MFT gemacht. Ich habe sie oben ein wenig gekürzt, die aus dem LawnFawn-Set finde ich für das Fenster aber viel zu kurz. Ich habe sie aus hellgrauem Cardstock gestanzt und mit Copics schattiert. Die Vorhangstange und die Halter habe ich aus silbernem Spiegelcardstock gestanzt.  

Und mein Fenster brauchte natürlich auch etwas Deko. Die ist mit Stanzen aus einem Stanzenset von Action gemacht - eigentlich ist es Kamindeko. Die Kerzenhalter sind aus mattsilbernem Metallic-Cardstock gestanzt. Und um die Sterne am Fenster aufzuhängen, habe ich jeweils zwei Sterne aufeinander geklebt und dazwischen ein Stück dunkelblauen Metallic-Faden geklebt. Das obere Ende des Fadens habe ich an aus dunkelblauem Cardstock gestanzten Schleife befestigt und die dann auf die Vorhangstange geklebt.  

 

From white cardstock I die cut two of the windows using the Window Frame die by LawnFawn, then shaded them with Copics. I put acetate behind one of the windows, then adhered one onto each side of the blue cardstock. 

The curtains are made with the Take the Stage die set by MFT. I cut off a bit at the top, but the ones included in the set by LawnFawn are jut way too short for that window. I cut the curtains from light grey cardstock and shaded them with Copics, too. The curtain rod and the holders on the sides I cut from silver mirror cardstock.

And my window needed a bit of decoration. I made it using a die set by Action - originally it's meant to decorated a fireplace. I cut the candle holders from matte silver metallic cadrstock. To hang the stars I cut stacked two of the stars, putting a piece of dark blue metallic thread inbetween. The other end I glued behind some bows, that I cut from dark blue cardstock, and glued them onto the curtain rods.

 

 Hier kann man die Folie hinter dem Fenster besser erkennen. 

Ich habe die oberen und unteren Rahmenteile des Fensters aufgedoppelt und mit dünnem 3D Tape aufgeklebt. Hinter den Vorhängen befindet sich dickes 3D Tape. 

 

Here you can see the acteate behind the window a lot better.

I doubled up the top and bottom piece of the window, adhering the second layer with thin foam tape. Behind the curatins I put some thick foam tape.

 

 Und so sieht die Karte aus, wenn man sie öffnet.

Auf der linken Seite habe ich einige grau-blaue Mauersteine aufgemalt. Und auf die Scheibe habe entlang des Fensterrahmens etwas der Chunky Flakes von Ranger aufgeklebt. Die sehen, von außen durch die Scheibe gesehen, aus wie auf die Scheibe gefrorene Eiskristalle.

Den Rahmen auf der rechten Seite habe ich aus schwarzem Cardstock mit dem Shadow Box Punch Board von We R Makers gemacht.  Im Nachhinein fällt mir ein, dass ich die Hinge-Stanzen auch habe, aber hier gefällt mir die Klappe wegen des Fensters eh besser.

 

And this is what the card looks like opened.

On the  left side I drew some grey-blue bricks onto the wall. And along the inner window frame I glued some Chunky Flakes by Ranger onto the acteate. Seen from the other side those look like ice crystals, frozen to the window pane. 

The frame on the right side I made from black cardstock using the Shadow Box Punch Board by We R Makers.  I just now realize that I also have the hinge punches, but here I like the flap better anyway.

 

 Und im Inneren des Rahmens ist dann auch die Laternenszene zu sehen, für die die Panorama-Stanzen von Charlie und Paulchen zum Einsatz kamen. Ich habe sie jeweils nur unten gerade abgeschnitten, normalerweise sind die Panorama-Szenen ja rund.

Ganz im Hintergrund befindet sich eine Lage dunkelblauen Cardstocks, auf den ich Sterne mit goldener Metallic-Watercolor aufgespritzt habe.

Davor befinden sich einige Hochhäuser.  Ich habe hier drei Häuser nebeneinander geklebt, die Fenster sind mit dunkelblauem Cardstock hinterlegt.

Wieder davor stehe eine Reihe eher kleinstädtischer Häuser. Die sind aus grau-braunem Cardstock gestanzt. Außerdem habe ich sie aus schwarzem Cardstock gestanzt und hier jeweils mit der Schere die Fenster und die Dächer schmal ausgeschnitten und auf die kompletten Häuser geklebt. Die Fenster habe ich mit grau-blauem, die Durchgänge am unteren Ende einiger der Häuser mit schwarzem Cardstock hinterlegt.

Zwischen zwei Lagen hellgrauen Cardstocks, der hier die Straßen bildet, habe ich dann die Laternenkinder gesetzt. Auch die sind aus grauem Cardstock, nur die Laternen habe ich aus gelbem Cardstock gestanzt. Die Stäbe der Laternen habe ich mit einem schwarzen Glaze Pen nachgemalt. 

Unten auf die höhere Straßenlage - und bei geschlossener Karte nicht zu sehen - habe ich dann noch einen Text aufgestempelt. Der ist aus dem Set Licht An von Create a Smile und mit schwarzer Tinte direkt auf den Cardstock gestempelt. Ich fand, der passt so schön zur Szene.

Als Deko habe ich die Häuser und Straßen ein klein wenig mit dem Distress Rock Candy Glitter von Ranger "vereist". Neben den Text habe ich drei goldene Sterne geklebt.

 

And inside the frame there is my lantern scene, that I used the panorama dies by Charlie und Paulchen for. I just cut them straigt at the bottom - usually they have a circle shape.

In the background I glued some dark blue cardstock into the frame. With gold metallic watercolor I splattered some stars onto it.

Then I added a row of tall houses. I put three of the die cuts next to each other and backed the windows with dark blue cardstock. 

In front of those there is a row of smaller, small town houses. I cut those from grey-ish brown cardstock. I also cut them from black cardstock and used my scissors to cut out the windows and roofs. I glued those onto the houses. The windows I backed with grey-ish blue cardstock and put black cardstocks behind the arches at the bottom of some of the houses. 

Between two layers of light grey cardstock, that make the ground here, I put the kids with their lanterns. Again I cut those from grey cardstock, using yellow cardstock just for the lanterns. I covered the lantern sticks with a black Glaze pen. 

At the very bottom of the larger ground layer - and not visible when the card is closed - I added a text. It means "you glow so wonderfully" and is from a set by Create a Smile. I stamped the text directly onto the cardstock using black ink. I thought, the text goes great with the scene.

As decoration I covered the houses and streets with just a bit of Distress Rock Candy Glitter to give them a bit of an icy look. Next to the text I added three gold star confetti.

 

 Zwischen jeder Lage der Szene befindet sich dickes 3d Tape, so dass die Szene eine tolle Tiefe bekommt. Eigentlich wollte ich noch eine kleine Lichterkette einbauen, die die Szene beleuchtet, aber die Lichter waren auf den Drähten so weit auseinander, dass das nicht wirklich geklappt hat. Also habe ich die Idee wieder verworfen.

 

I put thick foam tape beetween the layers to give the scene some depth. Originally I also had planned to include a battery operated string of lights  to make the scene light up. But the little lights were so far from each other, that it didn't work out. So I skipped that idea.

 

Manchmal verstehe ich mich selbst nicht...

 

 Hallo Ihr Lieben!

Manchmal kann ich im Nachhinein selbst nicht mehr nachvollziehen, was ich mir bei einer Karte gedacht habe. Die heutige Karte fällt definitiv unter diese Kategorie.

Jetzt könnte ich es auf den ordentlichen Schlag gegen den Kopf, den ich kurz zuvor bei einem Autounfall abbekommen habe, erklären. Oder auch damit, dass ich beim Machen der Karte tatsächlich stundenlang in einer Warteschleife hing und somit mit einem Ohr und zumindest der Hälfte meiner Gedanken am Telefon hing. Aber ich fürchte, das ist nur die halbe Wahrheit.

 

Hello everyone!

Every now and then I look at a card I made and am wondering what I was thinking while making it. Today's card is one of those.

I might blame it on the hard hit against my head I got during a recent card accident I was in. Or that I was on hold for hours  while making the card, so I was at least with part of my thoughts and at least one ear on the phone the whole time. But I'm afraid that's just half of the truth.

 

Alles begann damit, dass ich die Schnecken-Stanzen von CreativeDepot gekauft, aber noch nicht benutzt hatte. Mit dem Herbstbasteln war ich durch, also kam mir die Idee, den Schnecken Nikolausmützen auf die Häuser zu setzen und sie somit weihnachtstauglich zu machen. Warum ich das ganze dann in eine Schneekugel gepackt habe, weiß ich nicht. Aber ich habe es getan.

Die Schneekugel ist mit der Magic Iris Snowglobe AddOn von LawnFawn gemacht. Ich habe sie aus weißem Cardstock gestanzt und den inneren Teil herausgeschnitten. Hinter das so entstandene Fenster habe ich Folie geklebt und den Rahmen passend zum später für den Hintergrund verwendeten blauen Cardstock coloriert.

Die Basis habe ich aus hellbraunem Cardstock gestanzt und mit Copics schattiert. Zum Text später noch mehr.

 

It all started with the snail dies by CreativeDepot that I had ordered but not used yet. Since I was through with fall crafts I had the idea of putting Santa hats on their houses to make give them a christmas-sy look. Why I put the whole scene into a snowglobe is something I really can't explain. I just did it.

The snowglobe is made with the Magic Iris Snowglobe AddOn by LawnFawn. I cut it from white cardstock and cut the inner top out with my scissors. I put acetate behind the window and colored the frame a frosty blue, matching the color I used for the background later.

The base I cut from light brown cardstock and shaded it with Copics. About the text I tell you more later.

 

 Hier seht Ihr die beiden Schnecken - die Mützen sind aus Stempelsets von LawnFawn. Und ich finde, sie stehen den beiden Schnecken echt prima!

Natürlich brauchten die beiden dann auch etwas, auf und zwischen dem sie herumkriechen können. Pilze, war meine erste Idee. Also habe ich einige von HeroArts und Charlie und Paulchen ausgestanzt und im Fliegenpilz-Look coloriert. Übrigens habe ich alles Teile aus weißem Cardstock gestanzt und zum Colorieren Copics verwendet.

Nun, natürlich dürfen bei Weihnachtsschnecken auch weihnachtliche Akzente nicht fehlen. Ich habe den größten Pilz mit einer Lichterkette aus dem Build-a-House Christmas AddOn und einer sternförmigen Christbaumspitze aus Build-a-Christmas-Tree, beides von LawnFawn, dekoriert. Außerdem habe ich zwei Zuckerstangen aus einem Set von Action ausgestanzt, mit Distress Rock Candy Glitter bezuckert und mit kleinen roten Schleifen dekoriert. Dann habe ich alles dick mit Schneepaste überzogen. 

Die beiden Schneehügel, die den Boden bilden, sind aus einem Schneekugelset von MFT. 

Aus hellblauem Cardstock habe ich einen Kreis gestanzt und mit Distress Ink Stormy Sky etwas gewischt. Darauf habe ich dann alle meine Elemente angeordnet. Mit weißer Acrylfarbe habe ich dann Schneeflocken über die Szene gespritzt und auch die Rückseite der Folie in der Schneekugel damit bespritzt.

Of course the two needed something to crawl on/between. Mushrooms was what came to my mind first. I cut some by HeroArts and Charlie und Paulchen and colored them. I cut all pieces of the scene from white cardstock and colored them with Copics.

Of course there have to be some christmas-sy accents to go with the christmas snails. I decorated the largest mushroom with some lights from Build-a-House Christmas AddOn and a star shaped tree topper from Build-a-Christmas-Tree, both by LawnFawn. I also cut two candy canes from a set by Action, gave them a sugar coated look by covering them with Distress Clear Rock Candy Glitter and decorated them with red bows. Then I put snow paste on top of all the elements.

The snowy hills, that build the ground of my scene, are from a snowglobe set by MFT.

From light blue cardstock I cut a circle and shaded it with Distress Ink Stormy Sky. I glued all the elements onto the circle, then splattered white acrylic paint onto everything to create some snowfall. I also splattered some onto the back of the acetate.

 

 An diesem Punkt dämmerte mir schon, dass die Karte doch ordentlich strange ist. Und wenn schon blöd, dann richtig, oder? Also habe ich auf die Basis der Schneekugel ein "christmas snail for you" weiß aufembosst. Das soll eine Art Wortspiel mit "christmas mail" sein - hier gibt es eben Weihnachtsschnecken statt Weihnachtspost. Der Text ist mit Stempeln von LawnFawn zusammengesetzt. Und damit er zumindest ein klein wenig Sinn macht, habe ich einer der Schnecken noch ein Briefkuvert in den Mund gesteckt.

 

At that point I started to realize that this is a pretty strange card. So, if I go crazy, I might as well do it thoroughly.  So I white heat embossed a "christmas snail for you" onto the base of the snowglobe, thinking of a pun with mail. So here you get christmas snails instead of christmas mail. I put the text together using stamps by LawnFawn. And for the text to make at least a bit of sense I decided, to put a small die cut envelope into one of the snails' mouth. 

 

 Ich habe 3D Tape verwendet, um den blauen Kreis mit der Deko an der Schneekugel zu befestigen und habe dann von hinten noch eine komplette Schneekugel geklebt.

In dem verzweifelten Versuch, die Karte doch noch irgendwie zu retten, habe ich die Schneekugel zum Schluss noch mit einer Schleife dekoriert. Die ist mit einer Stanze von Charlie und Paulchen aus weißem Cardstock gestanzt und mit Copics schattiert. Dann habe ich sie oben an die Schneekugel geklebt. So wirklich geholfen hat das dann aber auch nicht mehr... ;)

Beim nächsten Mal wird es dann wieder "ganz-normal-nur-ein-wenig-verrückt" - versprochen! Aber ich finde, man darf ruhig auch mal etwas verunglückte Karten zeigen. Und wenn ich in ein paar Jahren zufällig über den Post stolpere, kann ich sicher über mich selbst lachen.

 

 I used foam tape to attach the blue circle with the scene to the snowglobe and then glued another snowglobe to the back.

I was desperately trying to save this card and thought, a bow might help. I die cut it from white cardstock using a die by Charlie und Paulchen and shaded it with Copics. Then I adhered it to the top of the snowglobe. Well, it didn't really help though.... ;)

Next time I am back to my "just a bit crazy" cards - promised! But I am all for sharing some not-so-great cards as well. When I come across this post in a few years I am sure I will get a good laugh from it.
