Der August ist schon fast vorüber und Halloween rückt näher. Na, kommt Ihr langsam in Stimmung? Wenn nicht, hilft Euch vielleicht mein heutiger WhimsyStamps Halloweeners Beitrag ein wenig auf die  Sprünge...

August is nearly over and Halloween is coming closer. Are in a Halloween mood already? If not, maybe this card I made for the WhimsyStamps Halloweeners Team a bit to feel ready for it...

 

Die Karte fing eigentlich ganz anders an und die Hälfte der Elemente haben es dann gar nicht auf die Karte geschafft. Außerdem ist doch etwas düsterer ausgefallen als geplant. 

Der Hintergrund besteht aus einem Stück weißen Cardstocks. Den habe ich erst mit Distress Ink Shabby Shutters, Peeled Paint und Forest Moss gewischt und mit Wasser bespritzt. Anschließend habe ich mit Versafine Clair Nocturne den Tree Silhouette Background aufgestempelt. 

Aus hellblauem Glitter-Cardstock habe ich den Drippy Frame ausgestanzt und auf Vellum geklebt. Das Vellum habe ich in der Größe meines Hintergrunds zugeschnitten und außerdem den Bereich innerhalb des Rahmens herausgeschnitten. So wird nur der äußere Bereich durch das Vellum abgetönt. 

 

The card started with a completly different idea and half of the elements didn't even make it onto the card. It also turned out darker than I had planned.

The background is made from a piece of white cardstock. I inked it with Distress Ink Shabby Shutters, Peeled Paint and Forest Moss and spritzed water onto the ink. Then I used Versafine Clair Nocturne ink to stamp the Tree Silhouette Background onto the inked cardstock.

From light blue glitter cardstock I die cut the Drippy Frame and glued it onto vellum. I cut the vellum down to the same size as my background and also cut out the center of the frame. This way only the areas outside of the frame get toned down. 

 

 Als Hauptmotiv habe ich mich für eines der Monster aus dem Set Monster Halloween entschieden. Eigentlich hatte ich zwei der süßen - äh, sorry, natürlich gruseligen! - Monster verwenden, aber die haben irgendwie nicht mehr ins Design gepasst. Ich habe ihn olivgrün coloriert, sein süßes Tütü habe ich hellblau gehalten. 

Als Boden habe ich die Buschreihe aus dem Field of Butterflies Stanzenset aus schwarzem Cardstock gestanzt und unten an den Rand meines Hintergrunds geklebt. Darauf steht das kleine Monster.

 Der Text in der hellblauen Sprechblase ist ebenfalls aus dem Monster Halloween Set. Ich habe es schwarz auf eine der Sprechblasen aus dem Set Speech Bubbles gestempelt, die ich zuvor auf den Kopf gedreht habe, damit sie in die andere Richtung zeigt. Außerdem habe ich sie schwarz hinterlegt. 

Auf die Bäume im Hintergrund habe ich dann noch ein paar Augen geklebt, um das Orange des Kürbiseimers nochmal aufzugreifen. Die Augen sind die Ausstanzungen eines der Geister aus dem Set Peeking Ghosts. Außerdem habe ich noch einige Fledermäuse aus dem Set Bat Reveals, gestanzt aus schwarzem Cardstock, auf der Karte verteilt. 

 

Als the main image I went with one of the monsters from Monster Halloween. I orginally had planned to use two of those cute - sorry, spooky! - monsters but they didn't really fit my scene together. I colored  it an olive green, the cute tutu costume I did a light blue.

As the ground I die cut the row of bushes from Field of Butterflies from black cardstock and glued it along the bottom edge of my background. The little monster is standing on it.

The text in the light blue speech bubble is again from Monster Halloween. I stamped it black onto one of the speech bubbles from Speech Bubbles, turning it onto the face so it faces the other direction. I also matted it black.

Onto the trees in the background I glued a few eyes to pick up the orange of the pumpkin bucket again. The eyes are the cut outs from one of the ghosts from Peeking Ghosts. I also added a few bats from Bat Reveals to my card.

 

 Den Text habe ich im oberen Bereich meiner Karte untergebracht. Er besteht aus einem gestanzten Scary aus dem Set Scary Night Word und Teil eines Textes aus dem Stempelset Cutie Batootie. 

Das Wort habe ich aus Vellum gestanzt, die "Schleimspur", die davon herabtropft, aus weißem Cardstock, den ich in hellem Olivgrün coloriert habe. Der gestemplte Text ist weiß auf schwarzen Cardstock embosst. 

 

I added the text to the top half of my card. It's put together from a die cut Scary from Scary Night Word and part of a text stamp from the Cutie Batootie stamp set.

I die cut the word from vellum, the "slime", that's dripping down from it, from white cardstock. Then I colored it a light olive. The stamped text is white heat embossed onto black cardstock.

 

 Beim Zusammensetzen der Karte habe ich die Fledermäuse, die Sprechblase und den embossten Text mit dünnem, das Monster mit dickem 3D Tape hinterlegt. Zum Schluss habe ich alles auf einen weißen Kartenrohling geklebt. 

 

When putting the scene together I backed the bats, the speech bubble and the embossed text parts with thin, the monster with thick foam tape. Then I glued the card panel onto a white note card.

Vor kurzem habe ich ein Stanzenset mit drei Hunden geschenkt bekommen und die wollte ich unbedingt einweihen. Nun, die Karte war eine schwere Geburt, aber dazu gleich mehr.

A little ago I was gifted a die set with three dogs and I really wanted to use those. Well, this card was really hard work, but more about that a bit later.

 

Der Hintergrund besteht aus einem Stück weißen Cardstocks. Ich habe mit einem Bleistift ganz leicht den Fliesenboden durch Linien angedeutet und ihn dann mit Ohuhu Markern schwarz-weiß coloriert. Die Wandabschlussleiste habe ich schwarz gemacht.

Dann habe ich den Boden abgedeckt und den Cardstock darüber erst leicht mit Distress Oxide Hickory Smoke gewischt und die Farbe dabei nach oben auslaufen lassen. Dann habe ich mit der selben Farbe und einem Stempel von SU die Streifen aufgestempelt. Auch die habe ich nach oben auslaufen lassen und dafür die Farbe im oberen Bereich mit einem Tuch vom Stempel getupft, so dass keine harte Kante entsteht. 

Auf die Wand habe ich etwas Wasser, auf den Boden ganz fein weiße Acrylfarbe aufgespritzt.

 

The background is made from a piece  of white cardstock. I used a pencil to lightly draw the lines for the tiles, then colored them black and white with Ohuhu markers. The trimming I did black.

I covered the floor with masking tape  and then lightly inked the cardstock above it with Distress Oxide Hickory  Smoke, letting teh color fade out towards the top. Then I used the same ink to stamp the stripes onto the  wall, using a stamp by SU. Again I let the stripes fade out at the top, dabbing off the ink with a cloth to not end up with any hash edges. 

I splattered water onto the wall and white acrylic paint finely onto the floor. 

 

 Hier könnt Ihr zwei der Hunde aus dem Set sehen, von dem ich übrigens keine Ahnung habe, von wem es ist. Aber die Hunde finde ich klasse. Ich liebe den hochnäsigen Gesichtsausdruck des langhaarigen Hunds und das etwas treu-doofe Geschau des anderen. Und so war mir schnell klar, wie meine Szene aussehen sollte. Ich habe alle Teile - auch den Napf und den Knochen aus dem selben Set, aus weißem Cardstock gestanzt und mit Ohuhu Markern coloriert. Ich habe winzige Oval als Hundemarken and die aufgemalten Halsbänder geklebt. Der Ball besteht einfach aus  einem kleinen Kreis, dem ich Linien wie ein Tennisball gegeben habe, auch wenn die ja eigentlich gelb sind.

 Aus schwarzem Cardstock habe ich die Gedankenblase sowie die Frage- und Ausrufzeichen gestanzt und auf die Gedankenblase ein Oh No! von WhimsyStamps weiß aufembosst. Die ganze Szene sollte so aussehen, als wäre der vordere Hund gerade dabei erwischt worden, wie er den Knochen aus dem Napf geklaut hat. Der andere steht nur - mit in Gedanken hochgezogener Braue - da und das sagt mehr als tausend Worte. Nun, hier fing das Drama an. Ich hatte keine Ahnung wie ich das darstellen sollte und wollte eigentlich etwas wie "dein Ernst" in eine Sprechblase über dem helleren Hund stempeln. Aber die restlichen Text, die irgendwie zur Karte passten, waren alle auf Englisch. Mischen wollte ich nicht. Nach ewigem Rumprobieren habe ich mich dann für diese Lösung entschieden.

 

Here you can see the two dogs of the set, that I have no idea who makes it, that I used on this card. I just love  them. I love the quite snooty expression on the one dog's face, the other one looks a bit dumb. I had the idea for this scene pretty quickly. I cut all pieces - also the bowl and bone from the same set - from white cardstock and colored  them with Ohuhu markers. I glued tiny ovals as dog tags behind the collars I added with my coloring. The ball is just a small circle that I colored like a tennis ball, even if those are usually yellow.

From black cardstock I die cut the thought bubble and the exclamation- and question marks, then stamped an Oh No! by WhimsyStamps onto the thought bubble. I wanted the scene to look like the yellow dog was just caught steeling the bone from the bowl. The other one is just standing there, with one raised eyebrow - and that says more than a thousand words. Well, that's how the drama started. I had no idea on how to express that and originally wanted to stamp something like "really" onto a speech bubble above the lighter dogs head. But I only had that in german, the rest of the texts in english and didn't want to mix those. After a lot of searching and trying out I went with what's on the card now.

 

 So richtig ging das Drama aber erst beim Text an. Ich hatte keine Ahnung, wie ich das noch irgendwie in eine lustige Freundschaftskarte verwandeln sollte. Ich habe drei Stempel zerschnitten und zum Schluss dann diesen Text mit einem Stempel aus Sassy Pants Best Friends von MFT sowie einem Stempel, dessen Anordnung ich ebenfalls geändert habe, aus It's not Mistery von HeroArts zusammengesetzt. Beide Texte habe ich mit Versafine Clair Nocturne direkt auf die Wand gestempelt.

 

The drama really started when I was looking for a text - I had no idea how I should turn this card into a funny friendship card. I cut apart three stamps and in the end put this text together using a stamp from Sassy Pants Best Friends by  MFT and a stamp, that I also changed the arrangement of, from It's no Mistery by HeroArts. I stamped both directly onto the wall using Versfine Clair Nocturne.

 

 Ich habe nur den braunen Hund mit dünnem 3D Tape hinterlegt, alle anderen Motive sind direkt auf den Hintergrund geklebt. 

Als Deko habe ich um den Text ein paar schwarze Perlen verteilt und dann alles auf einen weißen Kartenrohling geklebt.

 

I only backed the brown dog with thin foam tape, all the other images are glued directly onto the background. 

I added some black pearls around the text and then glued the card panel to a white note card.

 

LawnFawnatics Challenge #227

Fun with Food lautet das Thema der LawnFawnatics Challenge #227. Und das war dann wohl der beste Zeitpunkt, endlich die Mäuse aus dem Sommer-Release von LawnFawn einzuweihen.

Fun with Food is the theme of the LawnFawnatics Challenge #227. And that was the best time to finally use the little mice from LawnFawn's summer release.

 

Eigentlich heißt das besagte Stempelset Make Lemonade und es dreht sich alles um selbtgemachte Limonade. Ich habe ein paar Änderungen vorgenommen und nun betreiben meine Mäuse eine Zitronenfarm - und die süßen Zitronen direkt vom Feld sind heiß begehrt in der Mäusewelt. 

Der Hintergrund besteht hier aus einem Stück hellblauen Cardstocks, den ich von der Mitte aufwärts mit ein wenig Distress Ink Mermaid Lagoon gewischt habe. Darunter befinden sich drei Lagen Gras, die ich mit der Grassy Pasture Backdrop Portrait Stanze gemacht habe. Ich habe sie aus hellgrünem Cardstock gestanzt und die unteren drei Graslagen abgeschnitten. Die übrigen Lagen habe ich für die nächste  Karte  aufgehoben. Ich habe die oberste der drei Lagen ebenfalls abgeschnitten und dann alles ein wenig mit Mowed Lawn schattiert. Auf alles, auch den Himmel, habe ich weiße Acrylfarbe aufgespritzt. 

 

Said stamp set is named Make Lemonade and is all about homemade lemonade. I did some small changes and now my mice are having a lemon farm - and the sweet lemons directly from the tree are highly sought  aftger in Micetown. 

The background is made from a piece of light blue cardstock. I inked it from the center up with a bit of Distrress Ink Mermaid Lagoon. Under it I placed three layers of grass that I cut with the Grassy Pasture Backdrop Portrait die. I cut it from light green cardstock and cut off the bottom three layers of grass.  I kept the left overs for another project. Then I cut off the top layer, too, and inked them with Mowed Lawn. I splattered some white acrylic paint onto all the pieces, also the sky. 

 

 Auf die hinterste Lage Gras  habe ich dann einen Zitronenbaum gepflanzt. Der ist aus dem Set Apple-Solutley Awesome und eigentlich ein Apfelbaum. Ich habe beim Colorieren über die Äpfel in braun und grün drüber-coloriert und die überstehenden Teile beim Ausschneiden weggeschnitten. Stattdessen habe ich dann viele Zitronen aus Make Lemonade an den Baum gehängt.

Hier oben war auch Platz für meinen Text. Der ist aus Stempeln aus den Sets Make Lemonade und Treat Cart zusammengesetzt und weiß auf blauen Cardstock embosst. 

 

Onto the back layer of grass I planted a lemon tree. It's from Apple-Solutely Awesome and originally an apple tree.  When coloring the tree I went over the stamped apples with my greens and browns and when cutting it out I cut off the overhanging apples. Instead of these I glued a lot of lemons from Make Lemonade onto the tree.

Here in the upper left corner of my card I also placed my text. I white heat embossed it onto blue cardstock using stamps from Make Lemonade and Treat Cart.

 

 In der unteren Hälfte der Karte befindet sich dann mein Zitronenstand samt Kundschaft. Die meisten Motive sind aus Make Lemonade, nur der Aufsteller ist aus Treat Cart, das Schild aus Apple-Solutely Awesome. Den Text auf dem großen Schild habe ich mit einem weißen Gelstift per Hand geschrieben. Außerdem  habe ich den Zitronenstand mit einer gelb-weißen Markise versehen, die eigentlich das Dach des Treat Carts ist. Ich musste sie ein wenig erweitern, damit sie zum Stand passt. Ich habe einfach eine Hälfte gestempelt, dann den Mittelstreifen zwei weitere Male angesetzt und daran dann den Rest des Dachs gesetzt. Außerdem habe ich den Text auf dem Stand geändert. Dort steht eigentlich "Lemonade". Ich habe das Wort beim Abstempeln nicht mit eingefärbt und durch ein Lemons aus dem selben Set ersetzt. Davor habe ich dann ein kleines "fresh" aus Apple-Solutely Awesome gesetzt.

Die  Tüte, die der Verkäufer gerade dem Kunden reicht, ist eigentlich das Unterteil der Zuckerwatte aus Admit One. Ich wollte ein wenig den Look der braunen Papiertüten, die es früher in den Obstgeschäften gab, nachahmen. Die Spitze habe ich dann aber doch weggeschnitten. 

Auf der rechten Seite sorgt ein fleißiger Farmarbeiter dafür, dass der Zitronennachschub nicht ausgeht. Er trägt so viel, dass er schon eine Zitrone verloren hat.  

Ich habe alle Motive mit Ohuhu Markern coloriert und per Hand ausgeschnitten.  

 

In the lower half of my card there's  the scene with the lemon stand and a customer. Most images are from Make Lemonade, only the sign is from Treat Cart, the small sign from Apple-Solutely Awesome.  I wrote the text on the large sign by hand using a white gel pen. I also added a yellow and white awning to the stand. That is made using the roof of the treat cart. I had to make it a bit wider to fit the stand. I simply stamped half of it, then added the middle stripe twice and stamped the other end of it. I also changed the text on the stand. Originally there's "lemonade" written on it. I didn't ink up the letters when I stamped the stand and replaced it with the word "lemons" from the same set. Before it I stamped a small "fresh" from Apple-Solutely Awesome.

The paper bag, that the seller is just handing over to the customer, is made using the bottom of the cotton candy from Admit One. I wanted it to look a bit like those old-fashioned paper bags but then decided to cut off the tip.

On the right side a hard working farm worker is making sure they don't run out of lemons on that stand. He's carrying so much that he just lost one of the lemons. 

I colored all images with Ohuhu markers and cut them out with my scissors.

 

Beim Zusammensetzen der Szene kam wieder 3D Tape zum Einsatz. Um alles habe ich dann einen Rahmen aus blauem Cardstock gesetzt, den ich mit einer der Stitched Rectangle Frames Stanzen gemacht habe. Als Deko habe ich ein paar rosafarbene Herzen aufgeklebt und dann alles auf einem weißen Kartenrohling angebracht.

 

When putting the scene together I used foam tape between the layers. Then I put a frame around it, cut from blue cardstock using one of the Stitched Rectangle Frames dies. I added some soft pink clay hearts as decoration and then glued the card panel to a white note card.

 

 

Craft Roulette Episode #333

Am Freitag  war wieder Craft Roulette Zeit, diesmal Episode 333 - eine Schnapszahl! Und die Parameter haben es leicht gemacht, wenn gleich mich die Farbvorgabe erst ein wenig ratlos gemacht  hat. Aber sie  ist wieder sehr frei auslegbar.

Friday it was time for new issue of Craft Roulette, episode 333 - we in Germany call that a "Schnapszahl". Translated by word it means liquor number, but it's just a number with all digits identical. The word originated from many years back, when they were playing  all kind of games in bars. When the points were added up and someone ended up with a number with all identical digits he had to pay for a round  of liquor. It may also come from the fact, that people that drank too  much liquor saw things doubled or tripled... ;) The parameters this week were easy, again. However, the color parameter left me stumped for a few moments. But again it's one that can be interpreted very freely.

The parameter this week are:

Beim Thema Holiday habe ich mich dazu entschlossen, eine Erntedank-Karte zu machen. Nicht, dass ich dieses Fest in irgenndeiner Art feiere oder gar Karten dazu verschicke. Aber so konnte ich eine Herbstkarte machen und die Countryside Reihe von Concord and 9th einweihen. 

Das Format 4" x 6" kam mir sehr gelegen, entspricht es doch fast unserem A6 Format. Es ist nur ein klein wenig höher. 

Wie gesagt, habe ich die Countryside Reihe von Concord and 9th verwendet und den Hintergrund mit dem Stencilset auf weißen Cardstock gewischt. Der Stapel der verwendeten Distress Inks ware riesig. Die Grasflächen habe ich mit Mustard Seed, Fossilized Amber und Crushed Olive gemacht, die Scheune mit Scorched Timber und Fired Brick. Für den Weg habe ich Frayed Burlap verwendet und für den Himmel Dried Marigold, Ripe Persimmon und Abandoned Coral. 

Und weil man es auf dem Bild oben im Ganzen sieht: um die Voragbe Bark - Rinde - einzuarbeiten, habe ich auf der rechten Seite der Karte eine große Birke, gemacht mit einer Stanze von MFT, gepflanzt. Für das Rindenmuster habe ich erste eine Seite des Baums mit Pumice Stone gewischt und dann mit Alcohol Markern die Querrillen aufgemalt. Und weil die Stanze rechts und links des Baumstamms immer wieder kleine Stück herausstanzt, habe ich den Baumstamm noch mit grauem Cardstock hinterlegt. 

 

When I thought  about the holiday theme I've decided to make a Erntedank card. Erntedank is kind of the german Thanksgiving, and I am sure the american one somehow originates in it. It's not a real holiday and  even not really celebrated other than in church or school - so I am surely not sending out Erntedank cards to anyone. It's also sometime in september, I don't even know the exact date, rather than end of november like the american Thanksgiving. It was a fest the farmers celebrated once all the produce was harvested to celebrate the end of this year's work and also to thank god for a good crop. But the Erntedank theme gave me the chance to use the Countryside series by Concord and 9th and make a fall card. 

The card size of 4" x 6" wasn't a real challenge for me since it's pretty close to a standard german A6 card. It's just a tad bit taller. 

As  mentioned already did I use the Countryside series by Concord and 9th  here and used the stencil set to create the background. The stack of Distress Inks I used on this card was massive. I used Mustard Seed, Fossilized Amber and Crushed Olive for the fields, the barn is made with Scorched Timber and Fired Brick. For the path I used Frayed Burlap and for the sky Dried  Marigold, Ripe Persimmon and Abandoned Coral.

And because you can see it completly on the pic above: to bring in the bark theme I planted a large birch tree, made  with a die by MFT, on the right side of my card. For the bark pattern I first inked one side of the tree with Pumice Stone, then added the pattern details with alcohol markers. And because the die cuts out little pieces on the left and right side of the tree I used some gray cardstock to back the tree with.

 

 Für die  restlichen Elemente  auf der Karte habe  ich sowohl das Countryside Stempel- als auch das Stanzenset bennutzt. 

Aus dem Stempelset sind der Hahn auf dem Schneunedach und der Zaun - aufgestempelt mit Versafine Clair Nocture - sowie die Grasbüschel - gestempelt mit Distress Ink Forest Moss und Crushed Olive -, die Steine auf dem Weg - gestempelt mit Scorched Timber - und die Blattdetails auf dem Laub des großen Astes, der von links in die Szene ragt. Die habe ich mit einem Mix verschiedener Farben gestempelt. Außerdem gibt es einen Stempel für das Holzmuster auf der Scheune. Das habe ich mit Versafine Crimson Red aufgestempelt. Die Vögel am Himmel, die wieder schwarz gestempelt sind, sind aus dem Stempelset Postage Collage Forest Sunset von WaffleFlower.

Der Ast samt Laub, die Kürbisse, die Strohgarben, die Scheunentür  und -fenster und der große Zaun sind aus dem Stanzenset. Ich habe die Teile aus farbigem Cardstock gestanzt und mit Distress Inks schattiert. Neben den schon erwähnten Farben kam noch Aged Mahogany zum Einsatz.

 

For the other elements on the card I used the Countryside die set and the Countryside stamp set.

From the stamp set are the vane on the barn roof and the fence - both stamped with Versafine Clair Nocturne - and the small grass details, that I stamped with Forest Moss and Crushed Olive. Also from this set are the stones on the path (Scorched Timber) and the lef details on the leaves of the large branch, that is coming in on the  left side. Those I stamped with a mix of colors I had already used. There's also a stamp for the pattern on the barn. I stamped that on with Versafine Crimson Red. The birds in the sky are from Postage Collage Forest Sunset by WaffleFlower and stamped black again.

The branch with the leaves, the pumpkins, the sheaves, the door and windows on the barn and  the large fence. I die  cut the pieces from colored cardstock  and shaded  them with Distress Ink, using colors I had already used on the card, only bringing in some Aged Mahogany, too. 

 

 Ich habe die winzigen Kürbisse rund um die Scheune verteilt und auf der linken Seite des Wegs den gestanzten Zaun samt Garben und kleinen Kürbissen  aufgeklebt.

Unten rechts, an den Fuß des Birkenstamms, habe ich drei größere Kürbisse gesetzt. Hier musste  nicht  nur ein Element in den Vordergrund, die Kürbisse verdecken auch die Tatsache, dass der Birkenstamm ein wenig zu kurz für die 6" hohe Karte war. ;) Die Kürbisse sind mit Stanzen diverser Hersteller gemacht, ich habe einfach genommen, was von der Größe her passte. Die Kürbisse im Countryside Set waren hier einfach zu klein.

Und entlang des unteren Rands der Karte habe ich dann noch meinen Text geklebt. Er ist aus dem Set Itty Bitty  Thanks von MFT und weiß auf schwarzen Cardstock  embosst. Als Deko habe ich drei kleine weiße Herzen um den Text verteilt. 

Und um Episode  333 zu ehren, habe  ich drei Elemente auf der Karte, die  in Gruppen von drei auftreten: die kleinen Kürbisse  vor dem Zaun, die großen am Fuß der Birke und die weißen Herzen. ;) 

 

I scattered the tiny pumpkins  around the barn and to the left of the path I added the fence, sheaves and small pumpkins.

At the bottom right, in front of the birch tree, I added three larger pumpkins. Not only needed the card a larger element here, the pumpkins also hide the bottom of the birch tree, that was just a bit too short for this 6" tall card. ;) The pumpkins are made with different dies from my stash, I simply grabbed what fit in size. The ones from the countryside set were just too small here.

And along  the bottom edge  of the card I added my text. It's from Itty Bitty Thanks by MFT and white heat embossed onto black cardstock. I added three white clay hearts as decoration. 

And to honor episode 333 I have 3 elements, that are added in clusters of three: the small pumpkins at the fence, the large ones at the bottom of the birch tree and the white hearts. ;) 

 

 Ich habe den großen Ast mit den Blättern und den Text mit dünnem, die Birke mit den großen Kürbissen mit dickem 3D Tape auf die Karte geklebt. Dann habe ich alles auf einem weißen Kartenrohling angebracht.

 

I adhered the large branch with the leaves and the text with thin, the birch tree and the large pumpkins with thick foam tape. Then I glued the card panel onto a white card base.

 

Und hier noch der Parameter-Check: 

4" x 6" Karte: der Kartenrohling hat diese Größe, den Aufleger habe ich ein wenig kleiner gemacht

Buffett-Colors: zu Erntedank gab es immer die aufgebauten Tische voller reifer Früchte wie Kürbissen, Mais, Äpfeln  und dazwischen bunte Blätter. Das war meine Farbidee hinter dieser Karte.

Feiertag: wie schon ausführlich erklärt, war Erntedank das Fest meiner Wahl

Bark - also Rinde, hätte aber genauso gut auch mit Bellen übersetzt werden können: die große Birke vorne rechts hat ein aufgemaltes Birkenrinden-Muster.

buffet colors: for Erntedank there were always those large tables full of ripe vegetables like pumpkins, corn, apples and inbetween colored leaves. This was the color idea I used on my card.

Nightmare Nectar in einer Flasche

 Für meinen heutigen Beitrag für das WhimsyStamps Halloweeners  Team habe ich einen Schlaftrunk gebraut. Allerdings möchte ich dringend davon abraten, ihn zu kosten - von Zaubertränken verstehe ich nämlich mal so überhaupt nichts. Da dürfte man auch an der Farbe des Tranks erkennen...

For today's WhimsyStamps Halloweeners Team card I have brewed a sleeping potion. But I really want to suggest you don't try it - I have absolutly no knowledge about potions. I guess you can tell that  from the color  of this potion...

 

Pünktlich zur Halloween-Bastelsaison habe ich meine Sprays wieder entdeckt. Irgendwie nutze ich die sonst eher selten bis nie. Aber das Fleckige finde ich zu Halloween einfach super passend.

Ich habe ein Stück Watercolor Cardstock  erst  mit Wasser besprüht und dann Distress Spray Stain Twisted Citron, Mowed Lawn und Black Soot aufgesprüht. Nach dem Trocknen habe ich dann noch Distress Mica  Stain Wicked Elixier, Tree  Lot  und Specimen aufgesprüht. Das sorgt für farblich passende aber glitzernde Flecken auf dem Hintergrund. 

Auf die rechte Seite habe ich dann noch eines der Spinnennetze aus dem Set Spiders and Webs, gestanzt aus Vellum, aufgeklebt.

 

Right in time for Halloween craft season I re-discovered my sprays. Somehow I use those very rarely - or never. But I think the splotchy look is just perfect for Halloween.

I first sprayed some water onto a piece of watercolor cardstock, then sprayed Distress Spray Stain Twisted  Citron, Mowed Lawn and Black Soot onto it. After the cardstock had dried I sprayed some Distress Mica Stain Wicked Elixier, Tree  Lot and Specimen on top. It adds some speckles to the card, that match in color but have some nice shine.

Onto the right side of the background I glued one of the spiderwebs from Spiders and Webs, cut from Velllum. 

 

 Die Zaubertrankflasche nebst sämtlichen Accessoires ist mit dem Stanzenset Potion Bottle gemacht - nur den aufsteigenden Qualm habe ich mit einer der Stanzen aus dem Set Revealers 2 gemacht.

Ich war mir nicht sicher, welche Farbe mein Trank bekommen sollte, und habe meinen Mann gefragt, an was er bei "Nightmare Nectar" farblich denkt. "Ein dunkles Lila" war seine Antwort - was mich ein wenig überrascht hat. Ich hätte eher zu einem dunklen Blau gegriffen. Aber die Idee gefiel mir und so habe  ich sie umgesetzt. 

Alle Elemente der Flasche  habe ich aus weißem Cardstock gestanzt und mit Alcoholmarkern coloriert. Bei der Flasche kamen dann noch ein dunkellila-farbener sowie ein dunkelbrauner und ein weißer Polychromo zum Einsatz um der Flasche die Glasoptik zu verleihen. 

Auf die colorierte Flasche habe ich dann mit Versafine Clair Nocturne das "Nightmare Nectar" Motiv aus dem Stempelset Potion Labels  aufgestempelt - und leider ist mir dabei die Flasche im Misti ein klein wenig verrutscht und die Stempellinien waren minimal verschoben. Da das Colorieren der Flasche doch einige Zeit in Anspruch genommen hat, habe ich sie trotzdem verwendet und neben den Buchstaben jeweils links und unten einen "Schatten" mit einem weißen Gelstift gegeben. So ist der Text trotzdem gut lesbar. 

An die Flasche habe  ich ein Etikett mit dem Hinweis "Toxic" gebunden. Das Wort Toxic ist dabei mit den ausgestanzten Buchstaben einer weiteren Stanze aus dem Set gemacht.  

Unten neben der Flasche habe ich dann den Korken sowie auf der linken Seite einen Totenkopf samt dahinter befindlichen Knochen aufgeklebt. Es sieht fast so aus, als hätte doch jemand meinen Trank probiert... 

Am Korken sowie  am oberen Rand der Flasche läuft ein wenig des Schlaftrunks herab.  

 

The potion bottle and all the accessoires are made using dies from the Potion Bottle set - only the smoke, that comes out of the bottle, is made using one of the dies from Revealers 2.

I really wasn't sure which color to use for my potion, so I asked my husband what color comes to his mind when he hears "nightmare nectar". He said "a very dark purple" and that surprised me. I though of some kind of dark blue. But I liked his idea and so I went with it.

I die cut all the elements of the bottle from white cardstock and colored them with alcohol markers. For the bottle I also brought in a dark purple, a dark brown and a white Polychromo to add the glass look.

Onto the colord bottle I stamped the "Nightmare Nectar" image from the Potion Label stamp set using Versafine Clair Nocturne. My bottle moved just a tiny bit in my Misti and I ended up with some very subtle double lines. Since coloring the bottle had taken quite some time I decided to use it anyways and drew a very fine "shadow" to the left and under the letters using a fine white gel pen. This way the text is still legible. 

I tied a tag with the word "toxic" on it to the bottle. The word toxic I wrote using the letters from a label from the same die set. 

At the bottom I added the cork and a skull and crossed bones to both sides of the bottle. It looks like someone tried my potion...

From the cork and also the bottle rim some of the potion is dripping down. 

 

 Den aus der Flasche aufsteigenden Qualm habe ich mit einer der Stanzen aus dem Revealers 2 Set aus lilafarbenem Vellum gestanzt und dabei die Rückseite nach oben gelegt. Die hat eine Art matt-weiße Beschichtung, während die Vorderseite eher glänzend und dunkler war. Die matte Seite hat mir hier besser gefallen. 

Den Qualm, das Wort Toxic und die beiden Teile herabtropfenden Zaubertranks habe ich mit Stickles beglittert. 

 

I die cut the smoke, that comes out of the bottle, from purple vellum, using one of the dies from Revealers 2, then turning the backside up. It has some kind  of white-ish and matte coating, while the front is a darker, shiny purple. I liked the matte side better for the smoke.

The smoke, the word toxic and both pieces of dripping down potion I glittered with some Stickles.

 

 Die Flasche  und die Knochen sind mit dünnem, Korken, Label und Totenkopf mit dickem 3D Tape hinterlegt. 

Als Deko habe ich noch einige lilafarbene Pailetten auf der Karte verteilt und dann alles auf einen weißen Kartenrohling geklebt.

 

The bottle and the bones I backed with thin, the cork, label and skull with thick foam tape.

I added some purple sequins as decoration, then glued the card panel to a white note card.

 

Technique Throwback Thursday Challenge im August 2026

 

Hallo Ihr Lieben!

Wie jeden Monat gibt es auch im August 2026 eine Technique Throwback Thursday Challenge. Im Video, das diesmal das Thema ist, werden Stanzteile so genutzt, dass man damit Papier in der Stanzmaschine prägen kann. Da sind die Möglichkeiten natürlich riesig, vor allem bei der Menge an Stanzen, die ich als bekennender Stanzen-Junkie besitze. Aber irgendwie ist die Wahl sehr schnell auf Blätter gefallen. Und weil mir noch nicht nach Herbstbasteln ist - ich glaube, das habe ich schon erwähnt - ist die Wahl auf Monstera-Blätter gefallen.

As every month there is also a Technique Throwback Thursday challenge in august 2026. In the video, that's the theme this month, die cuts are used to dry emboss paper in a die cutting machine. That leaves so many possibilities, especially when you are a cutting die addict like me and have tons of dies. But somehow I knew pretty quickly that I wanted to use leaves. And since I don't feel like making fall cards yet - I think I mentioned that already - I went with some monstera leaves. 

 

Ich habe hier Stanzen von Noor Design und SimonSaysStamp verwendet, um die Monstera-Blätter auszustanzen. Dann habe ich damit ein Stück hellgrünen Cardstocks geprägt. Der Effekt ist wirklich toll und ganz einfach zu machen.

 Ich habe dann noch den Pinstripe Background von MFT mit weißer Tinte darauf gestempelt. Die sieht man eigentlich nur an den erhabenen Stellen rund um die Blätter - ich habe den Cardstock so verwendet, dass die Blätter eingedrückt sind. Am Rand sieht an die Streifen dann aber auch ein wenig auf den Blättern, aber das stört mich nicht. 

Mittig auf den Hintergrund habe ich dann einen der Stitched Rectangle Frames von Create a Smile, gestanzt aus weißem Cardstock, aufgeklebt. 

 

I used cutting dies by Noor Design and SimonSaysStamp to cut the leaves. Then I dry embossed a piece of light green cardstock with them. The effect is amazing and so easily done.  

I then used the Pinstripe Background by MFT to stamp some stripes with white ink over the cardstock. You can only see those on the raised areas around the leaves - I used the side with the indented leaves as the top. At the edges some of the stripes landed on the leaves but it doesn't bother me. 

Onto the center of the background I then glued one of the Stitched Rectangle Frames by Create a Smile, cut from white cardstock.

 

 Als Motiv für meine Karte wollte  ich dann eine große Pflanze. Also habe ich mit dem Stempelset Build a Potted Plant von MamaElephant dieses große Einblatt zusammengesetzt. Die beiden Pflanzenstecker im Blumentopf sind aus dem selben Set. Ich habe die Motive mit Alkoholmarkern  coloriert und per Hand ausgeschnitten. 

 

As the image for my card I wanted a large plant. So I used the Build a Potted Plant set by MamaElephant to put this peace lily together. The two plant picks are from the same set. I used alcohol markers to color the image and cut it out with my scissors.

 

 Der Text auf der Karte ist ebenfalls von MamaElephant, aus dem Set Stems and  Sprigs. Ich habe ihn weiß auf  schwarzen Cardstock embosst und in Form eines Banners ausgeschnitten. 

 

The text on the card is also by MamaElephent, from their Stems and Sprigs set. I white heat embossed it onto black cardstock and cut it out in the shape of a banner.

 

 Ich habe die Pflanze mit dünnem, den Text mit dickem 3D Tape auf den Hintergrund geklebt. Als Deko habe ich drei weiße Herzen sowie einige weiße Perlen verwendet und dann alles auf einen weißen Kartenrohling geklebt.

Ja ist denn schon Herbst?

 

Hallo Ihr Lieben!

Nein, es ist natürlich noch nicht Herbst und ich hoffe auch, dass er noch möglichst lange auf sich warten lässt. Aber während ich Christmas in July nicht wirklich mag - das ist mir dann doch zu viel - bin ich basteltechnisch gerne mal in einer anderen Jahreszeit unterwegs. Und diesmal war mir nach einer Herbstkarte.

Is it fall already? No, of course not, and I hope we still have plenty of summer left. But while I don't really like "christmas in july" etc - that's just too out of season - I enjoy being a bit ahead in the year with my card, at least every now and then. And this time I felt like making a fall card.

 

Ja, und obwohl ich eine Herbstkarte gemacht habe, die Farben wirken jetzt erst mal nicht so herbstlich. Aber ich finde, man darf auch mal andere Wege gehen!

Ich habe hier ein Stück weißen Cardstocks mit Distress Ink Stormy Sky, Iced Spruce, Bundled Sage, Peeled Paint und Forest Moss gewischt. Anschließend habe ich Wasser und eisblaue Metallic-Watercolor  aufgespritzt.

 

And yes, allthough I made a fall card, the colors aren't what comes first to mind when thinking of fall. But I think it's okay to not go with the obvious.

I inked a piece of white cardstock with Distress Inks Stormy Sky, Iced Spruce, Bundled Sage, Peeled Paint and Forest Moss. Then I splattered water and some ice blue metallic watercolor onto it.

 

Die Motive auf meiner Karte sind von Cafe Constanze. Deren Sets sind so liebevoll gezeichnet. Ich habe hier das Set Herbstleuchten benutzt und die Motive einzeln abgestempelt. Ich habe sie dann mit Ohuhu Markern coloriert und sie dann mit der Schere ausgeschnitten.

Ich habe alle Motive arrangiert und dahinter etwas hohes Gras geklebt. Zuvor habe ich links und rechts noch die  Zweige mit Versafine Clair Fallen Leaves auf den Hintergrund gestempelt. 

Die Blütenköpfe sind mit der Stanze Blumen von Create a Smile ausgestanzt und ebenfalls coloriert.

Und für den Text habe ich das Herbst aus dem Textset 419 von FarbTon aus weißem Cardstock gestanzt. Den Klebebalken unten habe ich mit der Schere weggeschnitten. Kombiniert habe ich das  gestanzte Wort dann mit einem Hallo aus dem Set Kleine Sprüche von Create a Smile sowie einem "schön, dass Du da bist" aus dem Set Gänsebriefchen von Cafe Constanze. Bei diesem Text habe ich die Anordnung geändert, so dass er nun ein- statt zweizeilig ist. Die Texte sind wieder mit Versafine Clair Fallen Leaves auf den Hintergrund gestempelt.

 

The images on my card are by Cafe Constanze. You can see the love they put into their design just by looking at the sets. I used the  set Herbstleuchten and stamped the images individually. I colored them with Ohuhu markers and then cut them out with my scissors.

I arranged the images and put some tall grass behind them. I also stamped two twigs on the left and right side, stamping them with Versafine Clair Fallen Leaves directly onto the background.

The flower heads are by Create a Smile and again colored.

For the text I die cut the word fall from Textset 419 by FarbTon from white cardstock and cut off the flap at the bottom. Then I combined it with a stamped hallo by Create a Smile and "so happy you're here" from Gänsebriefchen, again by Cafe Constanze. I changed the arrangement of this text so it's just one line instead of two. Again I used Versafine Clair Fallen Leaves to stamp the text onto the background.

 

Ich habe hier tatsächlich mal überhaupt kein 3D Tape benutzt. 

Als Deko habe ich eine kleine Schleife aus grauem Twine an das T des Worts Herbst gebunden und neben die Text zwei weiße Herzen geklebt. Außerdem habe ich rund um die Motive einige grün-blau changierende Glitzersteine verteilt.

Zum Schluss habe ich alles so auf einen weißen Kartenrohling geklebt, dass ein etwas breiterer weißer Rand rund um den Kartenaufleger sichtbar ist.

 

Can you believe I didn't use even the tiniest bit of foam tape here?

As decoration I glued a small bow, made from grey twine, to the T of the word Herbst and then put two white clay hearts next to the text. Around the images I scattered some green-blue iridescent rhinestones.

Then I glued the card panel to a white note card, having cut it so there's a bit of a wider white frame visible around the cardstock.
