Eine Explosionbox - und eine Premiere

Hallo Ihr Lieben!
Also war guter Rat teuer.

Hello everyone!
I am crafting/stamping since many years, but I never had to make a project for a bachelor party so far. Well, the time had come. Here in Germany, the bridal couple invites people, those show up and throw lots of china on the ground to break it. Here we have a saying that sherds bring good luck, so all those sherds are meant to bring lots of luck to the couple's future. Usually this party is held one or two weeks prior to the wedding. And let me tell you, I was at one of those parties and someone even brought a toilett and broke it. It's also common that someones drives to the party with a large construction truck, then tilts the truck bed - the couple is afraid of what's coming their way - and then one single plate slides down onto the ground. So, those were just a few stories to give you an expression for what occasion this box was made. Seems like cards aren't very common for those parties - I wasn't able to find one single stamp or even some inspiration online. So I was a bit at a loss. And then I remembered the picture I gave my first husband as a wedding gift: it was made from a large piece of wood, onto it was glued a large heart made from lots of sherds - and I had to talk the manager of a large clothes store in Munich out of it, because they had those in all colors hanging in their display windows.... So the idea for my box was born.

I made the box from red, the lid from white cardstock. Then I glued some patterned paper with stripes and hearts, that I had matted white/red, onto the sides and onto the lid.
I also wrapped some wide red organdy ribbon around the lid and tied it to a bow at the front.

Then I went into our basement and sacrifieced one plate from a set of china we currently don't use. I broke it into small pieces with a hammer, then glued the sherds onto a heart, die cut from white cardstock. I used the die cut as some kind of stencil to end up with a nicely shaped heart.
On top of the heart I glued down the "sherds bring good luck" saying. I used one of the Handletter Alphabet die sets by CraftEmotions to die cut the letters for the word sherds from black cardstock and matte silver metallic cardstock, glued the letters together and then on top of the heart. The rest of the text - as well as the one on the inside of the box - I've written on my computer and printed it out.
I glued the heart with the text onto my lid and added a few matte silver sequins as embellishments.

And this is the opened box. I was a bit afraid that these are too many hearts for a Polterabend - bachelor party - box, but I had no other ideas.

By the way, the soon-to-be bridal couple has to sweep up all the sherds the guests create, usually more than once during that party. So I thought, two brooms would make the perfect inner decoration. I made these from a wooden skewer and a piece of black cardstock, that I had cut into numerous times. Then I wrapped it around the skewer, glued it down and wrapped some brown twine close to the upper edge. I glued the two broom sticks together and added a bow, cut from red cardstock, to them.
For the inside of my box and as the background for my brooms I matted a piece of the same patterned paper I had also used on the outside of the box, white and then only glued the left and right edge to the outer edges of the two sides that don't colapse when the box is opened. This way you end up with some kind of bend backdrop - which is a little different to the usual explosion box inside. I thought that just the patterned paper looked a bit plain so I've die cut two corners with a die by Magnolia from black cardstock and glued them onto the background. Somehow this inside reminds me of a kitchen in a house a very long time ago...

I had lots of sherds left, so I glued some smaller ones around the brooms. Then I added the text "all the best for your future life" in front of it.

I included triangle shaped pockets on the side flaps that opoen up. In one of them there's a blank card for some personal words, into the other one I tucked a little envelope to put some money in.
I coverd the pockets with the hearty patterned paper again, to decorate them I glued down a black circle, a white heart, through that I've tied some red ribbon, and a few more of the silver sequins.
