Der Sohn einer Nachbarin ist 30 geworden und sie hat mich gebeten, eine Verpackung für ein Geldgeschenk zu machen. Da es ein Zuschuss zur nächsten Reise sein soll, wollte sie gerne einen Koffer haben. Und den zeige ich Euch heute.

A neighbor's son turned 30 and she asked me to make her a box for the money she wanted to give him. Since it is meant to be used for his next trip she wanted it to look like a suitcase. And this is what I came up with.
Nun, kennt Ihr das, manchmal soll so viel mit in ein Werk einfließen, dass es erst unmöglich scheint. So war es auch hier: sein Auto samt Kennzeichen, sein Fahrrad, eine Landkarte mit bestimmten Städten, der Name, eine Weltkugel, ein Kofferanhänger, auf den der Name der Schenkenden geschrieben werden kann, dazu noch Platz für das Geld und alles in der Größe einer normalen Karte. Ich habe die einzelnen Elemente einfach auf das Äußere und das Innere des Koffers verteilt.
Well, did it ever happen to you, that someone wants you to include so much in one card/box, that it seems impossible first. That's what happened to me here: his car including his plate, his bike, a map with some important to him places, a globe, a tag where they can write on who this gift is from, room for the money and all that in the size of a regular card. I simply splitted the elements and put some on the outside, some on the inside of the suitcase.
Für den Koffer an sich habe ich aus braunem Cardstock eine Pizzaschachtel in der Größe einer normalen Karte gemacht. Die Ränder habe ich etwas mit Distress Ink Vintage Photo gewischt und etwas davon, verdünnt mit Wasser, auch auf den Koffer aufgespritzt. Dann habe ich ihn mit schwarzen Ecken, einem schwarzen Griff und zwei schwarzen Gurten mit silbernen Schnallen versehen. Die Gurte sind vorne nicht angeklebt und werden mit Magneten auf Höhe der Schnallen verschlossen gehalten.
Oben auf den Koffer habe ich eine aus silbernem Spiegelcardstock gestanzte 30 sowie einen kleinen Stern (den kann man auf dem nächsten Bild besser sehen) sowie den Namen stehend aufgeklebt. Den Namen habe ich aus rotem Cardstock gestanzt und das O durch eine Weltkugel ersetzt. Dafür habe ich mit einem Stempel aus dem Set I Miss Your Hugs von MFT mit weißer Tinte die Kontinente auf hellblauen Cardstock gestempelt und Distress Embossing Glaze Mowed Lawn und Vintage Photo aufgestreut. Anschließend habe ich alles mit einer Kreisstanze ausgestanzt und die Ränder des hellblauen Cardstocks mit Distress Ink Salty Ocean gewischt. Über der Erde fliegt dann noch ein Flugzeug, das ich aus silbernem Holographic Cardstock gestanzt habe.
Damit die stehenden Elemente auch stabil genug sind und gut festzukleben waren, habe ich sie jeweils einige Male mit Stanzteilen aus weißem Cardstock hinterlegt.
To create the suitcase I made a pizza box style box in the size of the regular card from brown cardstock. I inked the edges with Distress Ink Vintage Photo and also flicked some of it, mixed with water, onto the cardstock. I added black corners, a black handle and also two black belts with silver buckles. I didn't glue down the belts at the front of the card, instead they are wrapped around the suitcase and are held closed with some magnets that I placed near to the buckles.
On top of the suitcase I glued down a 30 and a smaller star (you can see that better on the next photo), that I had cut from silver mirror cardstock, and the name cut from red cardstock. I replaced the O in the name with a globe. I used a stamp from the I Miss Your Hugs stamp set by MFT to stamp the continents with white ink onto a piece of light blue cardstock, then sprinkled Distress Embossing Glaze Mowed Lawn and Vintage Photo onto the white ink. I cut the globe out with a circle die and inked the edges of the light blue cardstock with Distress Ink Salty Ocean. Then I die cut an airplane from silver holographic cardstock and glued that on top of the globe.
I wanted to glue those elements down standing upright. To make them sturdy enough and also stand safely I put some white die cuts behind each element.
Oben auf die Box habe ich noch die Worte "zum Geburtstag", mit brauner Tinte auf hellblauen Cardstock gestempelt und wieder mit Salty Ocean gewischt, aufgeklebt. Sie sehen ein wenig aus wie die Kofferaufkleber, die man oft auf ganz alten Koffern sieht.
Vorne an einen der Griffe habe ich dann noch den gewünschten Tag angehängt. Er ist mit Stanzen aus dem Tag Builder Blueprints #5 Set von MFT aus braunem und weißem Cardstock gemacht und mit weißem Twine angebunden.
On top of the box I glued the words "for your birthday", stamped with brown ink onto light blue cardstock and then inked again with Salty Ocean. I think, they look like those stickers that you sometimes see on very old suitcases.
To one of the handles I tied the tag. I made it from brown and white cardstock using dies from the Tag Builder Blueprints #5 set die by MFT, then tied it to the handle with some white twine.
Und das ist der geöffnete Koffer mit den übrigen gewünschten Elementen im Inneren.
Damit der Koffer auch von innen schön antik und wie mit Stoff bezogen aussieht, habe ich hier aus Designpapier mit kleinem Karomuster in beige, braun, hellblau und rot zwei minimal kleinere Boxen eingeklebt.
And this is the opened suitcase with all the other elements I was asked to include.
To make also the inside of the suitcase look antique and like covered in fabric, I created two slightly smaller boxes from some patterned paper with checked lines in beige, brown, light blue and red and glued them inside the two halfs of the suitcase.
Im Deckel befindet sich eine etwas kleinere Grußkarte, auf der dann auch Platz für die persönlichen Glückwünsche ist. Die habe ich erstmal nicht in die Box geklebt, damit sie noch gut beschreibbar ist. Anschließend kann sie mit dem doppelseitigen Tape, das ich schon mal auf die Rückseite der Karte aufgebracht habe, ganz einfach eingeklebt werden.
Auf der Karte befindet sich die Landkarte mit dem Auto und dem Fahrrad. Die Landkarte habe ich mir aus dem Internet ausgedruckt und so vergrößert, dass die gewünschten Orte darauf zu sehen sind. Die Heimatstadt habe ich noch mit einem roten Pin, den ich mit Glossy Accents überzogen habe, markiert. Und damit das Auto da nicht so planlos durch die Lande fährt, habe ich auch noch eine Straße, gemacht mit einer Stanze aus dem Open Road Set von MFT, aufgeklebt. Das Auto ist aus dem Set Car Critters, das Fahrrad aus dem Car Critters Road Trip Add-On Stempelset, beide von LawnFawn.
In the lid I placed a note card, cut a bit smaller than the box, where they can write some personal words. I didn't attach it to the box yet to make it easier to write into it. Once done, they can adhere it with the doublesided tape I already put on the back of the card.
On the card there's a map with the car and bike. I printed a map I found online, making it large enough so the city names can be read. I also put a red pin, that I covered with Glossy Accents, into the hometown. And to not have the car drive over all the land I also put down a road, made with one of the dies from the Open Road set by MFT. The car is an image from the Car Critters set, the bike from the Car Critters Road Trip Add-On, both by LawnFawn.
Unten in der Box ist dann Platz für das Geldgeschenk - hier fürs Foto habe ich einfach mal einen Fünfziger hineingelegt. Damit das Geld nicht lose drinliegt und evtl. beim Öffnen der Box herausfällt, habe ich die kleinere Box aus Designpapier am Boden mit Cardstock verstärkt, zwei Schlitze hineingeschnitten und rotes Band durchgezogen. Damit kann das Geld fixiert werden, gleichzeitig sehen die Scheine durch die Schleife auch viel mehr wie ein Geschenk aus.
In the box on the bottom there's room for the money - I simply placed a 50 Euro bill into it just for the photo. I didn't want the money to just lay in the box and eventually fall out when the suitcase is opened. So I put some cardstock behind the inner box that I made from patterned paper (to make the bottom more sturdy), then cut two slits into it and put some red organdy ribbon through them. The ribbon can be used to hold the money in place and at the same time the money looks a lot more like a gift with the red bow on top.
