Happy Christmas

 Hallo Ihr Lieben!

Hello everyone!
Today I have another christmas card to share. I think it was last year when we shared a tealight card over at Stempeleinmaleins and this card was what inspired me to make this card.

Also auf geht's:

To the front of my card I've used a rectangle from light grey cardstock onto which I've stamped the Christmas Background by MFT - like all of the products used here are by these brand. I've used middle grey ink to stamp the background since I didn't want it to be too eyecatching. Then I've put this piece of cardstock onto my card base and cut the frame of the Snowflake Window from both layers.
When I first saw this Snowflake Window die I immediately thought of stained glass. So I've die cut the complete Snowflake Window from silver glitter cardstock and put some Vellum behind it. Since stained glass is famous for its many and bright colors I've used red and grey Alcohol Ink to color the Vellum. First I had tried to kind of color the snowflake design in by putting the die cut piece behind my Vellum and coloring it with Copics but the colors weren't that bright. After letting it dry I've glued the colored Vellum between the card base and the grey background and glued the Snowflake Window into the cut out are of the background.
To the bottom of the window I've glued the Happy Christmas, made using the Happy Christmas die and red cardstock. The A in christmas was replaced by this cute penguin with the candy cane. And on top of the C and H there is another of those cuties balancing a pile of gifts. The penguins are both fro the Sweet Holiday Penguins stamp set. I can't tell you how happy I am that Stacey Yakula is now designing for MFT. So far her designs were only available at Purple Onion, directly ordered from their shop in the USA. Not the easiest thing to get those for someone living in Germany like me.
To the top right corner of the Snowflake Window I've glued a trio of Holly Leaves from the Tweet Holidays stamp set.
And well, stained glass really looks amazing once light shines through it, right? So let's get started:

The card base is made of a strip of cardstock, scored twice. There's a smaller strip on the bottom of the card that helps the card stand up, similar to an Easel Card. Onto this smaller strip I've glued some red and white striped cardstock and a banner with a text. The banner was added with dimensionals which helps holding the upright part in place. When the card is standing up you can put an electric tea light between the decorated layer and the back and make the window shine.
