In der FB Gruppe Share Handmade Kindness von Jennifer McGuire ist es Zeit für einen neuen Technique Tuesday. Diesmal geht es um ein Video über Color Blocking. Ich brauche unbedingt noch Weihnachtskarten - und da habe ich mich so richtig an das Color Blocking nicht rangetraut und sozusagen die Light-Variante davon gemacht. Aber bunter probiere ich das bestimmt auch noch!

In Jennifer McGuire's FB group Share Handmade Kindness it's time for a new Technique Tuesday. This month it's about a video abouut color blocking. I really need a few more christmas cards - and I didn't dare to use too many colors and kind of made a light version of color blocking. But I will definately try a more colorful one soon!
Die ganze Idee zu der Karte startete mit der Ho Ho Ho Hotfoil Plate, die erst bei mir eingezogen ist. Das Design drumherum habe ich sozusagen danach gewerkelt.
Für den Color Blocking Hintergrund habe ich erst den Christmas Background von MFT mit weißem Embossingpulver auf weißen Cardstock embosst. Dann habe ich oben sowie längs mittig einen Streifen mit Masking Tape abgedeckt, die sollten weiß bleiben. Die anderen Bereiche habe ich dann mit Distress Ink Aged Mahogany, Fired Brick und Black Soot gewischt - und so eine Art von Weihnachtsmann-Mantel gestaltet.
Erst beim Wischen ist mir aufgefallen, dass ich beim Stempeln mit dem Hintergrundstempel ein wenig verrutscht bin und oben nun einen Doppel-Effekt habe. Aber da wollte ich die Karte dann auch nicht mehr entsorgen. Mit genug Glühwein intus, fällt das bestimmt gar nicht mehr auf! ;)
I created the whole card design around that Ho Ho Ho Hotfoil Plate that I just got recently.
For my color blocking background I first white heat embossed the Christmas Background by MFT onto white cardstock, then masked off a strip at the top and along the center of my card since I wanted those to stay white. The other areas I've inked up with Distress Ink Aged Mahogany, Fired Brick and Black Soot - and that way created some kind of Santa suit.
When I did the inking I realized that I had moved my paper on the background stamp a bit and now there's a double stamped text in the upper area. But by then I didn't want to throw the background away. Guess, after drinking enough Mulled Wine no one will realize it anymore. ;
Den Ho Ho Ho Hotfoil Stamp von Spellbinders habe ich mit roter Folie auf Vellum foliert. Das geht auf dem Vellum nicht ganz so schön, aber ich finde den leichten Vintage-Effet hier ganz schön. Dann habe ich den folierten Bereich mit der dazugehörigen Outline Stanze ausgestanzt.
Das Merry Christmas ist mit einer Hotfoil Plate von Gemini auf schwarzen Cardstock foliert. Dafür habe ich leicht glitzernde goldene Folie verwendet. Dann habe ich auch diesen Text mit der passenden Outline Stanze ausgestanzt.
Das Vellum ist mit dünnem 3D Tape, der Merry Christmas Text mit dickem 3D Tape auf den Hintergrund geklebt. Den Kleber kann man auf dem Vellum prima hinter der Folierung verstecken. Den schwarzen Text habe ich so aufgeklebt, dass er auf dem schwarz gewischten Teil des Hintergrundes aufliegt.
Unter dem gold folierten Text habe ich noch eine Gürtelschnalle aus goldenem Glitzercardstock aufgeklebt. Dafür habe ich einfach ein Quadrat zugeschnitten und mit 0,5 cm Abstand nach innen ein weiteres Quadrat ausgeschnitten.
Zum Schluss habe ich noch goldene Halbperlen auf meiner Karte verteilt - einige habe ich so aufgeklebt, dass sie wie Knöpfe auf dem Weihnachtsmann-Mantel aussehen - und alles auf einen weißen Kartenrohling geklebt.
I foiled the Ho Ho Ho Hotfoild Stamp by Spellbinders with red foil onto vellum. Seems like the vellum isn't easy to foil on but I like the kind of vintage look. Then I cut out the foiled words with the matching outline die.
The merry christmas is made with a hotfoil plate by Gemini, foilde with golden glitter foil onto black cardstock. Then I cut it, using the matching outline die, too.
I used thin foam tape to glue down the vellum, thicker foam tape for the merry christmas text. You can easily hide the foam tape behind the foiled areas. I glued the black text down so it is placed on top of the black inked strip.
Under the gold foiled text I placed a buckle, cut from golden glitter cardstock. I simply cut a square with my paper trimmer, then cut out a smaller square from the center with a distance of 0,5 cm to the edge.
In the end I added a few golden pearls to my card, using some as buttons for Santa's suit, and glued it onto a white note card.
Und weil man den Glanz der Folie von oben so schlecht fotografieren kann, habe ich hier noch ein Bild, das ich schräg aufgenommen habe. Hier erkennt man den tollen Glanz viel besser.
And since it's really hard to get the shine of the foil on a picture taken from above I've taken one from an angle, where you can see the shine and glitter way better.
