April-Challenge bei Stamping-Fairies

Hallo Ihr Lieben!

Hello everyone!
As of every 1st of a month there is a new challenge starting today over at the Stamping-Fairies Blog. And for this month we picked the theme of "embossing powder".

Well, I rarely use embossing powders, and if so just white or clear one. But that seemed too simple for this challenge. So I wenth through my stash, looking for images with a solid area that I could emboss with powders in different colors. In the end I decided to go with the Flamazing stamp set by MFT.
I also embossed the background paper - the Wavy Coloring Book background stamp onto watercolor paper, using white powder. Then I filled in part of the white spaces with Distress Ink Mermaid Lagoon.

Then I've cut a circle from the background and glued the porthole, made using the Ocean View Porthole die, on top of it.
For the flamingo, the palm tree and the background I used different embossing powders by Nuvo: Hot Chocolat for the stem, Ballerina Pink for the flamingo, Cool Jade for the palm leaves and Serenity Blue for the sky in the background. Only beak and legs of the flamingo are stamped with regular in, the eye was added with a black Sharpie. And since I think those images made from different parts are sometimes hard to stamp so they can be cut out with the matching dies afterwards (I am one of those that are always after an even amount of white around the image) I did the die cutting first here and stamped on them later.
In the end I've put my scene together and added a little banner with a saying from the Aloha stamp set. I guess you can see it, when I was making this card I was really ready for some sun and heat!
