Kennt Ihr die Stanzen von ScrappyTails? Ich bin das erste Mal vor etwa 2 Jahren auf sie aufmerksam geworden, als Jennifer McGuire ein Video damit gemacht hat. Letztes Jahr war es dann wieder soweit und die Trifold Card in dem Video hat mich sofort abgeholt.
In Deutschland bekommt man nur bei der Stempelbar ein paar ältere Stempelsets, ich hoffe aber, dass sich das irgendwann ändert. Und so habe ich nun - gemeinsam mit einer Freundin - die erste Bestellung direkt bei ScrappyTails in den USA aufgegeben.
Jetzt kam das Paket und ich war geplättet. Die Sets sind riesig. Und natürlich musste ich die Trifold Card gleicht ausprobieren. Wobei das Wort Karte hier fast schon untertrieben ist - das ist defiinitiv mehr Deko-Objekt.

Do you know the dies by ScrappyTails? I came across them the first time about two years ago, when Jennifer McGuire did a video with some of their dies. Last year it happened again and the Trifold Card of this video got me.
You can only get some older stamp sets at one store here in Germany, but I really hope that changes. But for now me and a friend just placed our first order at ScrappyTails in the States.
The box has just arrived and I am blown away. Those sets are gigantic. And of course I had to try a Trifold Card right away. Well, card is quite the understatement - this is something you want to put up as decoration.
Ich gebe zu, ich war wirklich ein wenig überfordert. Wobei das nicht unbedingt an den sehr durchdachten Sets lag sondern mehr daran, dass ich am liebsten alles auf einmal benutzt hätte. Und so habe ich hier dann auch tatsächlich so einige Sets kombiniert. Ich habe mir (erstmal) nur die Basis-Sets bestellt, von denen es verschiedene gibt. Deko findet sich bestimmt in meinem Fundus genug. Aber um nicht noch mehr durcheinander zu kommen, habe ich hier tatsächlich nur Stanzen aus den bestellten Sets benutzt und nur für den Text ein paar Buchstabenstanzen sowie ein paar Stempel mit ins Spiel gebracht.
Und nein, die Karte war natürlich nicht in 2 Stunden fertig - ich bin einen ganzen Samstag dran gesessen. Aber das Ergebnis war jede Minute wert!
I have to admit that I was pretty overwhelmed. That's not the fault of the really very good thought through dies but more because I wanted to use everything at once. And I really combined quite a few sets here. (For now) I only ordered the basic dies - there are several different ones - because I think I have enough dies in my stash for decorations. But to not complicate things even more I really only used dies from the sets I bought and only added some die cut letters and a few stamps for the text.
And no, of course you can not make this card in 2 hours - it took me one whole saturday. But the result is worth every minute!
Man sieht es schon, ich habe eine Halloween-Karte gemacht.
Rein optisch kommt die Karte erstmal ganz normal daher - wenn man sie in der Hand hält, merkt man schon an Dicke und Gewicht, dass mehr darin steckt.
Die Kartenfront ist mit der Cathedral Door Trifold Add-On Stanze gemacht. Und ja, wirklich alle Teile auf meiner Kartenfront sind aus diesem Set (bis auf das gestempelte Schild).
Ich habe den Torbogen aus hell- und dunkelgrauem Cardstock gestanzt und mit schwarzer Metallic-Watercolor sowie weißer Acrylfarbe bespritzt. Außerdem habe ich die Teile bewusst felckt mit ein wenig Distress Ink schattiert.
Die Tür an sich habe ich bestimmt komplizierter gemacht, als es hätte sein müssen. Aber ich wollte die Glasscheibe hinter der Tür haben. Also habe ich mit den diveren Stanzen im Set alle Teile ausgestanzt und hintereinander gelegt.
Im Fenster hinter der Tür wollte ich eine Art gruseligen Schimmer haben. Also habe ich weißen Cardstock mit Distress Ink Shabby Shutters und Iced Spruce gewischt und hinter das Fenster geklebt. Dazwischen befindet sich noch eine Lage Acetate. Die habe ich dann auch in die Laternen mit eingebaut.
Der Türklopfer - die Details sind einfach der Hammer - sowie die Türgriffe habe ich aus matt-silbernem Metallic-Cardstock gestanzt.
Vor der Tür sitzen zwei Kürbis-Laternen. Ich habe mit Polychromos einige Details auf den orangefarbenen Cardstock gemalt.
Das Schild an der Tür ist mit einem recht alten Stempeln von SU gemacht und weiß auf schwarzen Cardstock embosst.
As you can see, I made a Halloween card.
When you just look at it the card doesn't look that much different - when you hold it in your hand you can tell from the thickness and the weight, that there has to be more to it.
I used the Cathedral Door Trifold Add-On die for my card front. And yes, all the pieces shown here are from this set - except for the stamped sign.
I die cut the arch from light and dark grey cardstock and splattered black metallic watercolor and white acylic paint onto it. I also shaded the pieces pretty splotchy with Distress Inks.
I think I made the door more complicated than needed. But I wanted the glass doors lay behind the door. So I used different dies from the sets, cut out all the pieces and layed them on top of each other.
I wanted there to be some kind of spooky light shining through the windows in the doors. So I inked some white cardstock with Distress Ink Shabby Shutters and Iced Spruced and glued it behind the window. I also put a layer of acetate in between. I also put some of it behind the lantern.
The door knocker - look at those details! - and the door handles I made from matte silver metallic cardstock.
I placed two jack o' lanterns to the left and right of the door. I used Polychromos to add some details to the orange cardstock.
The sign on the door is from a quite old stamp set by SU and white heat embossed onto black cardstock.
Klappt man die erste Lage mit der Tür auf, sieht man zum einen bereits eine Szene aus dem Inneren der Karte, auf der rechten Seite ist eigentlich die Rückseite der anderen seitlichen Szene zu sehen. Ich hatte überlegt, diese Seite undekoriert zu lassen, aber das fühlte sich falsch an...
When you open the first layer of the card - the one with the door - you can already see one scene of the inside of the card, the page on the right is the back of the other inside scene. I really thought about leaving this one empty, but that just felt wrong...
Ich hab einen weiteren Torbogen, identisch zu dem auf der Vorderseite der Karte, gestaltet. Auch hier habe ich weißen Cardstock, gewischt mit Shabby Shutters und Iced Spruce, hinter den Torbogen geklebt. Diesmal habe ich weiße Acrylfarbe aufgespritzt.
Zwischen die beiden Lagen habe ich dann den Vorhang aus dem Cathedral PopUp Tunnel Shadow Box Set gesetzt. Früher gab es ja in Burgen oft Eingangsbereiche, die durch dicke Vorhänge vom Wohnbereich dahinter abgetrennt waren, um die Kälte draußen zu halten. Das war meine Inspiration für diese Lage.
Den Vorhang habe ich aus schwarzem Cardstock gestanzt und wieder mit Polychromos verziert.
Rechts und links vom Torbogen sitzen wieder zwei Kürbisse. In den Torbogen habe ich dann einen Text aus einem Set von LawnFawn aufgeklebt, den ich weiß auf schwarzen Cardstock embosst habe. Außerdem fliegen hier drei Fledermäuse, wieder aus dem Cathedral Door Trifold Add-On Set.
I created another archway, identically to the one on the card front. Again I put white cardstock, inked with Shabby Shutters and Iced Spruce, behind the arch, this time splattering on some white acrylic paint.
I put the curtain from Cathedral PopUp Tunnel Shadow Box between the two layers. Back in time in old castles they often had hallways with thick curtains blocking the cold from outside. That's what was my inspiration for this layer.
I die cut the curtain from black cardstock and added details with Polychromos.
There are two pumpkins again to the left and right of the arch. Under the arch I placed a text from a stamp set by LawnFawn, wite heat embossed onto black cardstock. I also glued on three bats, again from Cathedral Door Trifold Add-On.
Und das ist die Szene, wenn man auch die zweite Lage aufklappt.
And this is the scene that you see when you open also the second layer of the card.

Die beiden Seitenteile sind mit der Cathedral PopUp Tunnel Shadow Box gemacht. Die ist etwas schmäler, dafür höher als die Trifold-Sets. Also habe ich sie unten etwas gekürzt und sie auf eine Lage grauen Cardstocks geklebt. So fällt fast nicht auf, dass rechts und links der Säulen ein Stück fehlt...
Hinter dem Bogen befindet sich wieder der schwarze Vorhang, dahinter ist eine Lage, in die ich das Fenster aus dem Halloween Window Trifold Add-On gestanzt habe. Das Fenster ist wieder mit Acetate hinterlegt. Und dahinter kann man in den Nachthimmel schauen. Diese Lage ist aus weißem Cardstock gemacht und mit Distress Oxide Bundled Sage, Evergreen Bough, Peacock Feathers, Uncharted Mariner und Black Soot gewischt. Hier habe ich einige Wassertropfen sowie silberne Metallic-Watercolor aufgespritzt.
Im Torbogen befindet sich ein großer Kerzenhalter samt Kürbis und Geist. Die Kerzen sind aus weißem Cardstock, der Kerzenhalter aus holografisch-silbernem Spiegel-Cardstock gemacht. Das kann man auf dem Foto leider nicht wirklich erkennen.
Der Geist war ein Freebie zur Bestellung - eigentlich sind es sogar drei Geister, die anderen seht Ihr gleich auch noch. Ich habe ihn/sie aus weißem Cardstock gestanzt und mit Copics leicht hellgrün schattiert.
I created the two side panels with the Cathedral PopUp Tunnel Shadow Box. It's a bit more narrow and taller than the Trifold sets. So I cut off a bit of the bottom and backed it with grey cardstock. It's hardly noticable that there is missing a small piece to the left and right of the columns...
Behind the arch I put the black curtain again, behind it I put a layer that I cut the window from Halloween Window Trifold Add-On. I backed the window with acetate again. And through the window you can see the night sky. I made this layer from white cardstock and inked it with Distress Oxide Bundled Sage, Evergreen Bough, Peacock Feathers, Uncharted Mariner and Black Soot. Then I splattered some water and silver metallic watercolor onto it.
I added a pumpkin again, a ghost and a large candelabra. I made the candles from white cardstock, the candelabra from holographic silver metallic cardstock. That's really not visible that good on the pictures.
The ghost was a freebie with our order - actually there are three ghosts, you'll see the others on the card, too. I die cut it/them from white cardstock and shaded them a light green with Copics.
Das Seitenteil auf der rechten Seite ist quasi das Spiegelbild des linken, nur ein anderer Geist kam zum Einsatz.
The right side panel is the mirror image of the one on the left, I only used a different ghost on it.
Und für den Mittelteil kam dann das Christmas House Trifold Set zum Einsatz - ich sage ja, ich konnte mich nicht entscheiden...
Das Haus habe ich aus mittel-grauem Cardstock, den Kamin aus hell- und dunkelgrauem Cardstock gestanzt und alles wieder gewischt und bespritzt. Auf das Haus habe ich mit Polychromos einige Ziegel aufgemalt. Den Kamin habe ich per Partial Die Cutting so verlängert, dass er bis ans Dach des Hauses reicht. Eigentlich ist er ein klein wenig kürzer.
Das Dach ist aus schwarzem Cardstock gestanzt, dazwichen habe ich einige braune Holzbalken gezogen.
Die Geister haben für Halloween etwas Deko in die Dachbalken gehängt. Auch die Schleife ist aus dem Christmas House Trifold Set, ich habe sie mit Polychromos schattiert und mit Stickles beglittert.
Auf dem Kaminsims stehen einige Kerzen - die habe ich einfach vom großen Kerzenständer abgeschnitten und für die Kerzenhalter die Halter des großen Kerzenständers umgedreht.
Auch hier finden sich einige Kürbisse, Fledermäuse und Geister.
For the center panel I used the Christmas House Trifold - I already said that I wanted to use everything at once for this first card...
I die cut the house from middle grey, the fireplace from light and dark grey cardstock and inked and splattered all the pieces again. I drew some bricks onto the wall with Polychromos. The fireplace I made a bit taller by doing partial diecutting to make it go all the way up to the roof - it's a bit shorter originally.
I cut the roof from black cardstock and added some wooden beams.
The ghosts have hung up some decorations for Halloween. The bow is again from Christmas House Trifold, I shaded it with Polychromos and added some glitter with Stickles.
I put a few candles onto the mantle of the fireplace - I simply used the large candelabra again and turned its holders upside down to create a shorter version.
And again I added a few pumpkins, bats and ghosts.
Die komplette Szene lässt sich dann aufstellen und steht - nicht nur wegen der Dicke der Karte - wunderbar stabil.
The whole card/scene can be put on display - it stands wonderfully, not only because of the thickness of the panels.
Für den sicheren Stand sorgt auch dieser Boden, der beim Öffnen der Karte heruntergeklappt wird. Ich denke, man könnte ihn auch weglassen, aber er sorgt nochmal für eine extra Lage in der Karte. Er verdeckt die Deko dahinter ein wenig, aber das macht nichts, man sieht sie ja, wenn die Karte flach liegt.
This ground piece also helps to make the card stand securely. It folds down when you open the card. I think you could skip this layer, but it adds just another layer to this scene. I partly covers the decoration behind it, but I don't mind, you can see that when the card lays flat.
Eigentlich hat dieses Bodenteil 3 Schlitze für zusätzliche Elemente - ich habe einfach entlang des hintersten eine Falz gezogen und das Bodenteil so gekürzt.
Gestanzt habe ich es aus braunem Cardstock und dann mit Polychromos ein Holzmuster aufgemalt.
An die Lasche im hinteren Schlitz habe ich dann ein BOO geklebt. Die Buchstaben dafür habe ich aus orangefarbenem, die Schattenlage aus schwarzem Cardstock gestanzt und alles aneinenader geklebt. Die Buchstaben habe ich wieder etwas beglittert. Und weil ich noch einen Kürbis übrig hatte, habe ich den hinter das zweite O gesetzt.
An die vordere Lasche, die ich etwas in der Breite gekürzt habe, habe ich ein Happy Halloween geklebt. Das ist wieder von LawnFawn und weiß auf schwarzen Cardstock embosst.
This floor piece originally has three slits for additional elements - I simply added a score line along the slit in the back and made the floor piece shorter.
I die cut it from brown cardstock and added a wood pattern with Polychromos.
To the flap in the larger slit I adhhered a BOO. I die cut the letters from orange, the shadow from black cardstock and glued the word together. Again I glittered the letters with Stickles. And since I hade one pumpkin left, I glued it to the end of the word.
To the front flap, that I made a bit shorter, I adhered a Happy Halloween. It's again made using a stamp by LawnFawn, white heat embossing it onto black cardstock.
