Wanted

In einem der August-Releases von WhimsyStamps gab es ein Fahndungsplakat im guten alten Western-Stil und das musste ich einfach haben. Und wie man auf dieser Karte sieht, die wieder für das Halloweeners Team entstanden ist, passt sie auch super zu Halloween-Karten!

In one of their august releases WhimsyStamps came out with a wanted posted in the good old Western style and I just had to have it. As you can see on this card, that I made again as a member of the WhimsyStamps Halloweeners Team, it also works great on Halloween cards!

 

Für den Hintergrund wollte ich einfach nur eine Art Holzwand, an die das Plakat genagelt ist. Also habe ich ein Stück braunen Cardstocks genommen und per Direct to Paper mit den Distress Ink Stempelkissen Scorched Timber und Frayed Burlap sowie einem weißen Pigmentkissen das Holzmuster aufgetragen. Bei Direct to Paper wird das Stempelkissen direkt über den Cardstock gezogen - mit nicht zu viel Druck, so dass sich "Fahrer"  ergeben und der Cardstock nicht komplett eingefärbt wird. Ich habe außerdem noch die Kante des Stempelkissens auf den Cardstock gedrückt, der für etwas feinere, dafür aber kräftigere Streifen sorgt.

 

For the background I wanted some kind of wooden wall that the poster is nailed onto. So I took a piece of brown cardstock and added the wooden pattern by doing some direct to paper with Distress Inks Scorched Timber and Frayed Burlap and also a white pigment ink pad. When doing direct to paper you drag the ink pad directly over the cardstock, not applying too much pressure to have some kind of smudges on the paper and not ink up the cardstock completly. I also pressed the edge of the ink pads onto the cardstock to get some thinner but more intense lines.

 

 Das Fahndungsplakat aus dem Stempelset Wanted Poster habe ich dann auf cremefarbenen Cardstock gestempelt, und damit es älter wirkt, habe ich statt schwarzer dunkle grau-braune Stempelfarbe in Form des Espresso Truffle Kissens von Memento verwendet. 

Um das Plakat noch älter aussehen zu lassen, habe ich es dann mit Distress Ink Old Paper und Frayed Burlap gewischt und mit Wasser verdünntes Vintage Photo aufgespritzt.

Die untere Ecke des Plakats habe ich einmal extra abgestempelt, ebenfalls leicht gewischt und ausgeschnitten. Die Ecke habe ich dann am Rand mit Flüssigkleber angeklebt und die Spitze mit dünnem 3D Tape hinterlegt, so dass sie etwas nach oben steht. Dann habe ich das Plakat mit der Schere ausgeschnitten.

Da sich auf dem Plakat selbst ja schon einiges an Text befindet - und im Set sind noch mehr Texte vor allem in Form des Grunds der Fahndung enthalten - habe ich nur noch einen kleinen Text auf der linken Seite angebracht. Der ist, ebenso wie die Motive, aus dem Set Cat-O-Lanterns. Auch ihn habe ich mit der grau-braunen Stempelfarbe abgestempelt, diesmal auf leuchtend grünen Cardstock. Den habe ich dann einfach mit einer Handstanze rund ausgestanzt und mit einem weißen Gelstift eine Linie entlang des Kreisrandes aufgemalt. 

 

The poster is from the Wanted Poster stamp set. I stamped it onto cream colored cardstock and to make it look a bit aged I stamped it with dark greyish-brown ink instead of black using Memento Espresso Truffle.

To age the poster even more I inked it a bit splotchy with Distress Ink Old Paper and Frayed Burlap and splattered some Vintage Photo, mixed with a bit of water, onto it.

I stamped the bottom right corner of the poster again, inked it also and cut it out. I adhered it back in place, glueing it directly to the main image along the outer edge and putting a small piece of thin foam tape behind the corner so it is standing up a bit. Then I cut the poster out with my scissors.

Since there is already quite some text on the poster - there are a lot more included in the stamp set mainly reasons for why the person is wanted - I only added a small text to the left side. Like also the main image on my poster the text is from Cat-O-Lanterns. Again I used the greyish-brown ink and stamped it onto bright green cardstock. I simply used a handheld circle punch to  cut it out and then drew some kind of frame around it with a white gel pen.

 

 Den Bereich, an dem sich das Bild auf dem Plakat befindet, habe ich aus dem Poster herausgeschnitten und mit gewischtem Cardstock hinterlegt. Ich habe hier Distress Oxide Twisted Citron, Mowed Lawn, Rustic Wilderness und Black Soot benutzt. Dieser Cardstock bildet den Hintergrund für mein Motiv aus dem Cat-O-Lanterns Set. 

Eigentlich sind die Katzen und Kürbisse - zusammen mit weiteren Kürbissen - alle  gestapelt und bilden einen hohen Turm. Der hätte aber nicht auf mein Poster gepasst. Ich fand aber die Idee, die Katzen aus dem Rahmen herausschauen zu lassen so süß. Also habe ich das Motiv abgestempelt, mit Copics coloriert und dann den unteren Teil weggeschnitten. Die Katze dort habe ich gesondert ausgeschnitten und neben den übrigen Teil des Motivs geklebt. So passen sie super in den Ausschnitt.

 

The area, where there is the picture of the wanted person on that poster, I cut out and put some inked cardstock behind it. I used Distress Oxide Twisted Citron, Mowed Lawn, Rustic Wilderness and Black Soot. This is now the backdrop for my image from Cat-O-Lanterns.

The cats and pumpkins - and even more pumpkins - are originally all stacked to some kind of tall tower. But this way they didn't fit onto the poster. Since I really liked the idea of those cats peeking out of the frame I stamped the image, colored it with Copics and cut it apart. I only used the two top pumpkins and the attached cats, the cat the bottom left of the image I cut out individually and glued it next to the two pumpkins. Now they all fit into the frame on the poster.

 

 Den grün-gewischten Cardstock habe ich mit dünnem 3D Tape hinter das Plakat geklebt und auch die Motive damit hitnerlegt. Die über den Rand hinausragenden Teile habe ich dann ebenfalls mit 3D Tape oben auf das Plakat geklebt. Den rund ausgestanzten Text habe ich mit dickem 3D Tape hinterlegt.

Oben auf das Plakat habe ich noch eine kleine Fledermaus, ebenfalls aus Cat-O-Lanterns, aufgeklebt. 

Ich habe das Plakat auf die Holzwand und dann beides auf einen weißen Kartenrohling geklebt. 

Aber es gibt noch ein kleines Extra auf meiner Karte:

 

I used thin foam tape to glue the green inked cardstock behind the poster and also backed the images with it. The parts of the cats, that are hanging out of the frame, I adhered with foam tape on top of the poster. And the text on the circle I adhered with thick foam tape.

At the top of the poster I added a little bat, also from Cat-O-Lantern, as decoration. 

I attached the poster to the wooden wall and then  glued both onto a white note card.

 Einige Elemente auf meiner Karte leuchten! Wann ist eine bessere Zeit für Glow-in-the-Dark-Produkte als zu Halloween? 

 

Some of the elements on my card glow! Is there a better time to use glow-in-the-dark products than for Halloween?

 

Aber weil ich sie (fast) nur zu Halloween verwende, war meine Paste von LawnFawn wohl auch schon fast eingetrocknet. Ich konnte sie aber mit etwas Wasser wieder aufrühren. Im ersten Moment hat sie dabei recht geschäumt und wurde weißlich, das hat sich aber beim Trocknen wieder gegeben. Praktischer Nebeneffekt: ich konnte die Paste mit einem Pinsel recht genau auf die Augen der Katzen und Grimassen der Kürbisse auftragen und etwas davon auf den grünen Hintergrund spritzen. 

Auf die Augen und Nasen der Katzen habe ich dann noch jeweils Glossy Accents aufgetragen.  

 

But since I use it only for Halloween (or nearly only) my glow-in-the-dark paste by LawnFawn nearly had dried up. I was able to re-vive it with some water. At first it started foaming and turned kind of milky but once it had dried it was this yellow-greenish-clear again.  

As a side effect of mixing the paste with water: I was able to apply it very precisely with a brush only to the eyes of the cats and the pumpkin's faces. I even splattered some onto the green inked background. 

Onto the cats' eyes and noses I also added a layer of Glossy Accents on top of the paste.
