Colorieren mit Stencils

 

Hallo Ihr Lieben!

Das nächste Release von LawnFawn ist nur noch ein paar Tage entfernt. Zeit also, endlich mal die Coloring Stencils auszuprobieren, die im Juni herauskamen. Ich hatte mir zwei der drei Sets zum Ausprobieren gekauft. Und weil für das nächste Release solche Stencils für jedes Set angekündigt sind, muss ich ja - für meine Shopping Liste - doch wissen, ob mir das liegt oder nicht.

The next release by LawnFawn is only a few days away. So it's about time to finally try out the coloring stencil they release in june. I had ordered two of the three sets to see, if I like them. And since they announced to have coloring stencils for all sets of the next release I need to know if I like them or not - and if they have to go on my shopping list for that new release.

 Für meinen Hintergrund habe ich erst ein Stück türkisfarbenen Cardstock genommen und mit Distress Oxide Peacock Feathers, Uncharted Mariner und Black Soot gewischt. 

Mit dem Desert Canyon Backdrop habe ich dann aus weißem Cardstock nur den linken Berg gestanzt und dann das herausgestanzte Teil darüber auf den Kopf gedreht und ebenfalls verwendet. Diese beiden Berge habe ich mit Tattered Rose, Abandoned Coral, Barn Door und Fired Brick gewischt. 

Und dann habe ich ebenfalls aus weißem Cardstock noch drei Hügel für meine Wüste ausgestanzt. Die habe ich mit Antique Linen, Tea Dye und Gathered Twigs gewischt. Nur auf die Sandteile habe ich dann ein wenig Distress Ink Scorched Timber - das lag eh auf meinem Tisch, aber dazu gleich mehr - aufgespritzt, auf Himmel und die Sandteile anschließend auch noch weiße Acrylfarbe. Der Himmel hat dann noch ein paar aufgespritzte Sterne mit goldener Metallic Watercolor erhalten, die Berge habe ich mit Distress Ink Lumberjack Plaid und Scorched Timber ganz fein besprenkelt.

For my background I first inked a piece of aqua colored cardstock with Distress Oxide Peacock Feathers, Uncharted Mariner and Black Soot.

Using the Desert Canyon Backdrop I die cut only the right mountain from white cardstock and used the cut out "waste" as well, turning it upside down. Those two mountains I inked with Tattered Rose, Abandoned Coral, Barn Door and Fired Brick.

Also from white cardstock I die cut three hills for my desert. I inked these with Antique Linen, Tea Dye and Gathered Twigs. Only onto the sand I splattered some Distress Ink Scorched Timber - I had that on my desk already but more about that soon -, onto the sand and the sky I also splattered some white acrylic paint. I added some stars to the sky with gold metallic watercolor and the mountains I gave some structure with Distress Ink Lumberjack Plaid and Scorched Timber, doing very fine splatters here.

Aus dem Stempelset Critters in the Desert habe ich dann einige Motive abgestempelt und dann kamen die Coloring Stencils zum Einsatz. Nun, was soll ich sagen... Haben sie mir Zeit erspart? Eigentlich nicht wirklich, was aber daran liegt, dass mir nur gewischt nicht gereicht hat und ich mit diversen Stiften noch Muster aufgetupft habe. Außerdem fand ich es doch relativ schwer, zumindest ein wenig Schattierung in die Motive zu bekommen, und das, obwohl ich sehr feine Pinsel verwendet habe. Und von der Unmenge and verschiedenen Distress Inks, die ich gebraucht habe, reden wir gar nicht. Es waren folgende Farben: Scorched Timber, Pumice Stone, Fossilized Amber, Pine Needles, Lucky Clover, Frayed Burlap, Antique Linen, Gathered Twigs, Lumberjack Plaid, Festive Berries, Mowed Lawn, Twisted Citron und Cracked Pistacchio. Und ich kann Euch leider nicht mehr genau sagen, welche Farbe wofür genau zum Einsatz kam. 

Nach dem Auftragen von weißem Gelstift war ich dann irgendwann auch einigermaßen zufrieden. Ich  habe die Motive per Hand ausgeschnitten und hinter dem zweiten Hügel arrangiert.

Nun, ich habe ja noch das Coloring Stencil Set für das Whoosh Kites Stempelset und ich bin wirklich gespannt, wie sich die Mäuse damit colorieren lassen. Aber ich für mich denke wohl, dass ich eher beim "normalen" Colorieren bleibe. Auch, weil ich es einfach zu gerne mache. Kategorisch ausschließen, dass ich mir für irgendein Set nochmal die Stencils kaufen werde, möchte ich aber auch nicht.

I stamped several images from the Critters in the Desert stamp set and then brought out those coloring stencils. Well, what should I say... Did they save me some time? Not really, but that may be because I wasn't happy with just inking the images and used different pens to add patterns. I also found it quite hard to add at least a bit of a shading to the images, even with the very fine brushes I used. And I don't want to mention the huge amount of different Distress Inks. I used the following colors: Scorched Timber, Pumice Stone, Fossilized Amber, Pine Needles, Lucky Clover, Frayed Burlap, Antique Linen, Gathered Twigs, Lumberjack Plaid, Festive Berries, Mowed Lawn, Twisted Citron and Cracked Pistacchio. And I am not able anymore to tell you exactly, which colors I used for which image.

After adding details with a white gel pen I finally was kind of happy with the images. I cut them out by hand and put them behind the second sandy hill.

Well, I also bought the coloring stencils for the Whoosh Kites set and am really curious to find out, how coloring the mice with these will turn out. I personally think, that I will stick to regular coloring. Also because I enjoy it so much. But that doesn't necessarily mean that I will never buy one of those coloring stencil sets again. You never know....

Den Text für meine Karte habe ich hinter dem untersten Sandhügel versteckt. Ich habe aus dem türkisfarbenen Cardstock, den ich auch für den Himmel verwendet habe, das Giant Outlined Thanks ausgestanzt - insgesamt drei Mal. Die Schattenlage habe ich aus Vellum gestanzt.

Das oberste Thanks habe ich wieder mit Peacock Feathers, Uncharted Mariner und Black Soot gewischt, dann habe ich zwei der Worte aufeinander geklebt, die Vellumlage eingefügt und zum Schluss noch das dritte gestanzte Wort dahinter gesetzt.

Der kleinere Text darunter ist aus dem Set Critters in the Desert. Ich habe ihn schwarz auf weißen Cardstock gestempelt und weil ich ja eh schon beim Wischen war, habe ich ihn mit Distress Ink Lucky Clover und Pine Needles farblich an die Kakteen angepasst.

Das Thanks habe ich zusammen mit zwei weiteren Pflanzen und einem Stein hinter den Sandhügel gesetzt, der kleine gestempelte Text kam darauf.

I added the text to the bottom one of the sandy hills. I die cut the Giant Outlined Thanks three times from the same aqua cardstock I had also used for the sky. The shadow layer I die cut from vellum.

The top one of the words I inked with Peacock Feathers, Uncharted Mariner and Black Soot again, then stacked two of the words. I put the vellum shadow layer behind those two and then backed it with the third die cut word. 

The smaller text is from the Critteres in the Desert set. I stamped it black onto white cardstock and since I was already ink blending like crazy I made the text strip match the colors of the cacti using Distress Ink Lucky Clover and Pine Needles.

I put the word thanks and two more plants and a stone behind the sandy hill, then glued the stamped text on top.

Dass hier zum Zusammensetzen wieder 3D Tape zum Einsatz kam, habt Ihr Euch wahrscheinlich schon gedacht....

Die Ränder der Berge, die Schlange und das Wort Thanks habe ich ein wenig mit Stickles beglittert und dann alles auf einen weißen Kartenrohling geklebt.

I'm sure you already assumed that I used foam tape again to put the scene together...

I added Stickles to the edges of the mountains, the snake and the word thanks, then adhered the card panel to a white note card.
