Hello everyone!
From literature and movies we all know that any love magic very rarely has a lucky ending. And still, there's always one that tries it. Seems like the witch, that the desk you are seeing on today's card, is one of them. And she has pressed all the buttons. Well, I can't tell you if she succeeded or not though.
The desk on my card I've made from a piece of white cardstock, that I first dry embossed with the Wood on the Farm Embossingfolder by Vaessen. Then I inked the cardstock with Distress Oxide Twisted Citron, Peeled Paint, Forest Moss, Ground Espresso and Black Soot. Then I softly pressed a black ink pad onto the cardstock to bring out the wood pattern a bit more.
Onto the cardstock I splattered green metallic watercolor.
The whole card idea started with this voodoo doll. It's from Happy Haunting Cat by WaffleFlower and the reason why I had to order this set. I just fell in love with this doll!
In the center of the card I placed the largest book from the Open Book Trio set, also by WaffleFlower. Their Open Book was too large compared to the doll.
I inked the book to make it look old and worn and stamped texts onto the pages. The titles are put together using stamps from All the Speech Bubbles and Purr-fectly Wicked by LawnFawn, the handwritten text is made using stamps from Open Book Trio by WaffleFlower.
I put some gold glasses by Create a Smile and a spider by HoneyBeeStamps onto the book. I also added some bookmarks from one of the Craftoween 2025 sets by Spellbinders.
The voodoo doll I die cut from light and dark olive cardstock and inked it with Distress Ink Forest Moss. And to make voodoo work there has to be a needle put into the doll, for love magic of course directly into the heart. (And no, I am totally making all this up, I have no experience in Voodoo!) Since I didn't have a needle die I used the tip of a clock hand by MarianneDesign and glued small circles onto the back end. The needle tips I die cut from gold mirror cardstock.
And then the card needed to be filled - of course with all kind of ingridients that one might need for any kind of love magic.
On the right side I glued a large spiderweb from Spiders and Webs by WhimsyStamps onto the background. Across it I put a banner with a cut in Spellbound, again from the Craftoween 2025 set.I used a gold gel pen to trace the cut-in word.
The decorations next to the voodoo doll is made from a large skull from Postage Collage Spooktacular Icons and two eyeballs from Happy Haunting Cat, both by WaffleFlower. I also glued on some bones by HoneyBeeStamps and some green crystals. These are from the Purr-fectly Wicked stamp set by LawnFawn. I used Versafine Clair Verdant to stamp them onto green vellum and then covered them with clear embossing powder with gold glitter in it. I also created two more needle pins and glued them down close to the voodoo doll.
On the left side there are another skull and eyeball from the same sets, more bones and crystals and also two mushrooms. These are again from Postage Collage Spooktacular Icons.
And above the book there are two ghosts floating around. It looks like the love magic worked at least on one of the ghosts, he has green heart shaped eyes already. But I am not sure if the other ghost, who's just taking his house spider for a walk, is so happy about it - he looks more frightened... The ghosts are again from Postage Collage Spooktacular Icons, the spider from Happy Haunting Cat. I die cut the ghosts from silver shimmer vellum and replaced the eyes with green heart confetti and small green pearls.
Centered along the bottom edge of the card I placed another text, that seems to have a bit of a double meaning when you look at the scene. It's from Purr-fectly Wicked and white heat embossed onto black cardstock.
I backed some elements with thin, some with thick foam tape. And many of the elements, like the eyes of the skulls, the glasses, the bodies of the spiders, the needle ends and the pupils of the eyeballs, I covered with Glossy Accents to make them appear more dimensional.
At the end I added some gold star confetti to the card and glued the card panelt onto a white note card.
